She dips into the kitchen and returns with a cold bottle of water and two shot glasses. She lets him pour the first round and touches the rim of her glass to his before downing it. She turns then to the screened in area around the tub, taking the water with her, stripping out of her running clothes with a mechanical efficiency.
"Does she know the terrain?"
Why would he risk taking her, she thinks, unless he needed her for something.
'She came into the bar from Vietnam. She knows all about fighting in the rainforest. I only asked her what the best way to approach this would be - it was her that decided to come along.'
He goes and sits on the bed, taking the bottle and glasses with him.

He wanders in after her and closes the door, already screwing the top off the bottle.
'She hadn't seen a P90 before but she's got the idea. I'll let her borrow one for the shooting range if she wants but I doubt she'll need to.'
A gun is a gun is a gun and it's not like Mary Anne really needs to use one at all.

The water turns on and he hears her step under it with a heavy sigh.
"I'm just curious. Don't like the idea of you taking dead weight on a mission. But it sounds like she's anything but. What about this other guy?"
