[Chris is trying to push through a crowd of people.]
Days like this just get in the way of investigations. I mean, there're some good sides to them, I s'pose but mostly...I dunno. Loads of new criminals, folk gettin' in the way. [He smiles as something occurs to him.] They really ain't that bad, though. [And then....something else, that makes him

Yeah. Yeah, I'm westish...round about buildin' 7 but I can come an' find you, maybe?

It doesn't really matter how long it's for, right? And I'm all over the place. I can definitely find you.
[Waaait...] I mean, if you want me to. It's been a little while, hasn't it? I get that--you know, that things change.

...You're not seeing anyone? I don't want to make anything awkward.

[Chris thinks. Neither thing really counts as that, he's too much of a coward to bring either of them up to Penny and besides, they both pale in comparison to her.]
No. I'm not. Look, I'll go back t' me flat an' fetch your Christmas present, alright? You can meet me around there. S'a bit late, I s'pose, but there weren't any way t' get it to you, really...

[Penny won't say it, but she's quite relieved to hear that Chris is still... unattached. Not that she expects him to remain alone on her account, but--well, she kind of wouldn't mind it.]
That's so sweet of you, Chris. And I'm sorry for missing--for not being here for Christmas. And for not saying goodbye. But that doesn't matter right now, and I'm on my way!

[Chris takes the train. It's fastest, if not something he's particularly used to. But right now, he wants fast. He charges in and out of his flat, gathering a package and a big plastic bag as he goes, and then charges back down again to the front of the building, suddenly realising that he didn't work out an exact place to meet her. Er....whoops? She said she could find him, anyway.
If Penny has any sort of Deathly powers from her...new job, she'll probably be able to work out pretty quickly that Chris is actually....dead.]

Chris!
[No time for conversation right now, sorry. She all but flings herself at him for a hug. Alas, she hasn't acquired any Death powers, but she's very perceptive. Give it a moment.
There's a ring on her left hand that looks very like the one she left for Chris. It's hard to see it while hugging, however.]

Hi.
[It is, possibly, not the most intelligent thing he could have said into the side of her head but.
He is also wearing the ring she got him, actually, but on a chain around his neck because Ray did actually call him a poof for wearing it. Repeatedly. Until he stopped being so obvious about it. (After which, Ray left, but it's probably what everyone was thinking anyway.)
He lets the hug loosen, then, but it's only so he can lean out and kiss her, a bit awkwardly, based on the fact that again, he has no hands to use to guide her face, with.]

Sorry! Sorry. I just--here you are!

[He hands over the bag first. It's got 237 paper cranes in it. They're none of them perfect and some of them are actually pretty poorly made, but there are a lot of them.]
Dunno if you want these. S'just....you were puttin' together a collection when you were 'ere an' this is what I got up to. [He looks possibly a bit embarrassed about this.]

[She takes the bag and rifles through it a bit, smiling.] If you're willing to give them up... I have I-don't-know-how-many at home. I was going to make chains of them. Still not to a thousand, but this'll make it closer. I think it means we'll have to share the wish, though.
[Penny doesn't seem to think that this is a bad thing at all. She carefully ties the bag shut so none of the cranes fall out, places it on the ground, and hugs Chris again. Something's not quite right here...]
Thank you, Chris.

[He follows this up with the parcel. It's small, and has a necklace in it: a random-shaped turquoise stone wrapped in spiralling gold wire for a pendant. He promised Penny something really nice the Christmas before, so this is him tryyying to follow through.]
I got the presents from you, by the way. They're real nice. I've still got...um. [He just kind of. Pulls the ring out from behind his tie and collar to show her, before tucking it back away again. It might be a bit soppy and fairy-boy, etc., but he still thinks it's dead romantic. Not that he'd ever use that word.]

[She admires the pendant for a moment, visibly impressed, and carefully takes it to put it on. It's just the sort of bright, off-beat kind of thing that she would wear.] It's beautiful, Chris. Really, it is. It's perfect.
...They got to you? [Aw, Penny's delighted to see that Chris has the ring. Practically giddy, even. She has, in her absence, decided that she really does love Chris, and she'd been hoping that, just maybe, he felt the same still.] You're even wearing it! Thank you--just a million times, for the necklace, and for... for everything, pretty much.
