Brownies, take 3...YUMMY!

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup baking cocoa (I favor Ghirardelli's natural cocoa)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

I was watching a show a few weeks ago with Ina Garten where she made 2 sets of brownies - same recipe, but one had a small amount of instant coffee/espresso powder - all of her blind taste testers thought the ones with the coffee were much better even though none of them tasted a coffee flavor. Perhaps you could try a a tablespoon or so in take 4 and see if that puts them over the edge.

i can't do coffee because any more caffeine in these is going to be an issue. but maybe cinnamon...
