Top 20 Beatles Songs

Inspired by the recent Beatles poll on ILX, which I didn't see in time to vote for, but I thought it would be fun to come up with a ballot anyways. Since I took the time to do it, figured I might as well post for posterity. (Attributions to Paul/John are based on primary songwriter as taken from Wikipedia)

I am stunned by how similar our tastes are on this, if not exact songs in the exact top twenty then types of songs and eras of Beatles. Not going to spend the time to create my own Top 20, but "She Loves You" would be number one, "You Can't Do That" and "Ticket To Ride" would likely be top five, "You Really Got A Hold On Me" would likely be top ten. I tend to lean more Johnward than you, and might include even more Help! ("You're Gonna Lose That Girl," "Hey You've Got To Hide Your Love Away"); "Anna" would surely make it as a second cover, and "Money" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" would have a shot. "Words Of Love" too, for that matter. A George nod could go to "Don't Bother Me," and my "Cathy's Clown" nod would definitely go to "Not A Second Time." I love that you included "No Reply," which for me has the Beatles melody/harmony, the "I saw the light" and "I nearly died" parts. And "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is just undeniable, and I'd want "Girl" and "It's Only Love" for John depressives, though I'm running out of room, and I'd hope to ( ... )

I'm actually not sure why I didn't include more Help! songs on here (my favorite Beatles album), except that I guess I wanted to throw more stuff out. The big thing is, I really don't like their White Album and beyond work nearly as much as the early stuff, though I did throw two songs on their. I love all the work up to that point though, particularly from Hard Day's Night through Revolver. Generally, the more collaborative their work was the better, as I think they tended to balance out the worst aspects of each others songwriting very well.
