When she woke up, it was slowly, a warm, gentle touch coaxing her from flitting dreams of mussed sheets and laughter. She inhaled a deep breath, Gabriel's scent blending into the content world of her memories, and unconsciously nuzzled into that safe enveloping embrace with a soft sigh.

She missed it, but her mind was fuzzy, and she couldn't remember why, not even when a tingle of darkness touched the edges of her consciousness. She just wanted to sleep awhile longer.

He smiled to himself as she nuzzled in closer to him. His hand came up to run his fingers through her hair.

"Good morning." He muttered softly, careful not to wake her up in case she had fallen back to sleep.

Her eyes blinked slowly open, and it took her a few moments to discern where she was--not at Gabriel's apartment, but her room--and his embrace wasn't a dream, it was real.

She tilted her head up to look at him and instantly stiffened as she remembered how and why they'd come to be here. She should have just stayed asleep.

A frown spread across his lips as he felt her stiffen within his embrace. He brought a hand down to gently rub the small of her back, trying to soothe her a little.

Maybe he should have just let her sleep longer. Or maybe he should have left before she had a chance to wake up. But it was too late to do either one of those things now.
