Gabriel sat in the passager side of the car, staring outside of the window. He felt exhausted, but he hasn't really been able to sleep. Everytime he closed his eyes he saw his mother's shocked face, scissors jetting out of her chest, and suddenly he would feel wide awake again ( Read more... )

Elle was exhausted too. It'd been a restless long week of searching, and she'd woken up countless times during each night, knowing Gabriel was still awake beside her. It wasn't even as if she was haunted by the events a week before, or the past month. Knowing Gabriel was suffering was enough of a reason for her subconscious to stir her awake.

Elle took a distracting sip of her chocolate with a frown. Her mom had died; his dad had just... left. Not cared. It wasn't comparable. But then again, Elle knew what it was like to have a father who didn't care, at least about loving her. But at least she had one for however long a time.

"You want me to come in with you?" she asked softly, wanting to know before they got there. She understood needing to do some things alone, and this seemed like one that had the potential to qualify.

"It's probably best if you do," He replied after a moment or two of silent contemplation. In all honesty, he didn't quite trust himself. Not after what happened to his mother.

It was one things to kill for powers, it was another to kill family members. It was a line he had never meant to cross, but he had.
