Gabriel was nervous, just a little bit, as they pulled up to his father's house. There was a sign on the front yard:

Elle swallowed hard, staying in the car for one more moment as Gabriel got out. It was a small, average house, and she would have smirked at the sign if the tensions weren't so high. No matter how little Gabriel was nervous, she felt it, and she felt it tenfold for him.

She got out of the car though, looking over to him with a sober expression. "Are you ready?" she asked softly.

He took her hand into his own for comfort, squeezing it lightly. "As much as I'll ever be."

It seemed dizzying to think his whole life, his parents hadn't been his real parents. His real father, this man, had sold him as a child. How different would his life have been if he hadn't?

She held his hand tightly in response and nodded again, afraid of what was behind that door. It seemed naive to think it was good, knowing what they knew, but Elle... Elle was had to think it was going to be okay, or else she didn't know what she'd do.

He stood there, holding her hand for a moment before stepping up the door. He didn't even bother knocking before opening the door.

It was unlocked. Probably for customers.
