"I lost control of it, and one of the test tube shattered."
Everyone else just seemed to think it was some sort of freak accident. Or that Jane was just a huge klutz. Or both, depending.

She didn't even care that he was soaked, and she shivered from the cool dampness, gasping softly as he squeezed her closer. She was only wearing a blue dress, after all. Not only was he chilly, but the fabric was kind of thin, and she could feel all of him.
"Good job," she murmured back with a smirk. She meant it.

As her dress dampened from his clothes it was easy enough to see and feel what she was wearing underneath, sending another shiver down his spine.
He was about to say something else as Mr. Banner approached them, clearing his throat. "Gabriel. You're Jane's partner, that's correct, yes?"
He looked up at the teacher in annoyance. He wanted to just focus on Elle. But he nodded anyways. "I am."
"Did you see what it happened."
He thought for a moment before coming up with an answers. "She was being very uncareful, her hand was shaking and she didn't have a good grasp on the test tube. I tried to warn her about holding it like that, but she just wouldn't listen to me."
