AU Background: Vanika was born to Lord Conchita, a man who lorded over a vast countryside. His only daughter, as her mother died soon after she was born, he spoiled her thoroughly. She was given whatever she wanted, and only the finest dishes were presented before her. Vanika got along well with her father, and he often took her along with him on his trips across the countryside. It was there that she found that her passion was food.

As she grew older, though, her father’s spoiling took effect on her. She became greedy and selfish, though her father didn’t want to see it. Lord Conchita continued to spoil his daughter, until she was spoiled rotten. However, things wouldn’t always remain good. As time went by, he began to lose land in conflicts, until eventually, his lordship only existed over one town. He poured all of his efforts into this town, trying to help it flourish because the people were dear to him. He began to neglect his daughter. She, hurt by this, began to fill up the supposed void left by his lack of spoiling with food.

Now aged seventeen, Vanika could travel with servant escorts and without her father. So she did, and sampled only the best foods. If she approved of your dishes, it was seen as comparable to a food critic enjoying your works and writing a glowing review. And this is actually what got her in trouble. As her relationship with her father grew more and more rocky, she sought out more and more obscure foods. And then, he suddenly died of exhaustion brought on by his hard work to keep the town flourishing. Mourning his death, Vanika, now age twenty-three, left home in an attempt to escape the cold castle and found herself in a small town.

There, she was fed by a woman, but the food was horrid. Vanika denounced it and said she was appalled by the food she was offered, and quickly left to her rooms for the night. The woman who fed her, angered, cursed Vanika. As time went by, she found herself more and more hungry, as if food couldn’t satisfy her. And while she’d been careful about portions before, now they suddenly didn’t seem to matter.

Vanika began to gorge herself, devouring any and all food she could get her hands on. This hunger began to get worse and worse. Appalled by her own strangeness, Vanika shut herself in her castle, selecting only her two most trusted servants and a chef to stay with her. The castle began to fall into disrepair, and she cared little for the town at this point. Twisted by how her father spoiled her and the curse, she began to consume everything. And then, she found that she was tired of the gourmet foods.

Vanika Conchita wanted something new.

This began her spiral of eating the most horrid foods. She found that she could eat anything then, and soon did just that. Whether it was poison or metal or even the ceramic of the plates, Conchita could and would eat it. But it only got worse from there. The chef asked to be discharged. As this was something she wasn’t used to, so flew into a rage and murdered him. To hide the corpse, she demanded the servants roast him, and then she ate him to hide the act. Another chef was hired, from far away, and things continued on in a cycle. Vanika eventually found herself enjoying her human meals.

It became so commonplace that her chefs left, that eventually, she just began to not care. Life continued on, until her hunger consumed her almost completely. She devoured another chef, alive, and then turned on her butler. Food was running out now, and she couldn’t sate her hunger, so she just ate the people in her castle. When the maid was gone, she had nothing left and wandered the castle. Furniture was chewed on, clothing devoured, and it was only as she passed a mirror that she realized there was still something she hadn’t tasted: herself.

No one knows how, but she managed to devour herself completely.
Personality: To start off with, Conchita is spoiled. Her past has led her to believe she can have whatever she wants, and she especially wants food. And not only does she have the authority to back up her desires, she also has the resources to get it in the form of inheritance and steady taxes. To this end, she also demands respect. She is, after all, a lady and if she’s not being revered, then something must be wrong.

She’s also very hungry. As part of the curse placed upon her by the woman she scorned, she is forever hungry, and this motivates most of her actions now. She can always be found munching on something. Food also became a substitute when her father began to stop doting on her and instead focusing on the town.

Her morals are also very few now. She will gladly kill and devour anyone, including herself. This is supported by the fact that she devoured all of her chefs and both servants, eventually leaving herself alone. Which leads into the next point: Conchita is a recluse now. She was once ashamed of what she was that she simply locked herself away. Since then, it’s simply become comfortable and familiar and the outdoors is the unknown.

She has a very skewed sense of loyalty. Years of being locked away has left her with a me-or-them mentality. If you aren’t bowing to her every whim, you’re against her and a traitor. This, in her twisted mind, is a crime punishable with death. And even if you are loyal, it might not save you: if there’s nothing left to eat, she’ll turn on you. Bonds with her are flimsy at best, and she’s learned that everyone besides Father is below her-thanks to her father’s spoiling her.

There is a subtle level of paranoia to her actions, brought on by her curse. She is afraid of the outside world to a degree, and what people think of her. This also leads to her choice to murder those who would leave her employment. She doesn’t want the rest of the world to know about her strange eating habits.
Abilities: Conchita is normal save for the effects of her curse. That is, she is eternally ravenous, and nothing satisfies her. She can eat 24/7 and never gain a pound, instead remaining the same weight. She also has the ability to eat anything. Metal, bone, ceramic, anything can and will be devoured, and her teeth will never chip. It can be digested, too. She can also devour poison without feeling any effects. Cyanide? No problem! Bleach? Tastes great on salad! If it exists, she can eat it.
Sample Entry:
[Wherever she is, Conchita is not pleased. Not pleased at all. The food is hardly up to her requirements, the rooms aren’t private, and there’s this dreadful collar she has to wear. Not to mention all of the medical evaluations and other things she cares little for. She would prefer to be in her own manor, regardless of its state. Of course, then, she’d have no servant to return to…]

At least there are things to eat here… Perhaps I’ll finally be able to get this hunger under control.

[Wishful thinking, she knows. She’s grown used to the hunger and the abilities that come with it. So instead, she’ll quietly poke at the food. Hardly the grotesque meals she’s used to, or anything close to what she desires. Oh, well. She’ll deal with it.]
