Game Specific Info

Why do you want to play this character here?
Playing him is a blast. While he's shallow on the outside, I find Travis's inner emotions and motivations interesting to explore. He's been hurt a lot in the past, and that's left him emotionally stunted: he's 30 years old, but he's acting like a teenage boy with anger issues. Lust, rage, and whatever whim happens to strike him guide his actions most of the time, but he does have his own very strange and sometimes hypocritical set of morals. Letting a killer loose in Gotham is nothing new, but Travis sees violence as a test of strength and/or some twisted mode of self-expression rather than a way to control others. And he even spares people sometimes! I'd like to see how a killer with some semblance of a conscience will do in Gotham. (I mean, I know it'll be trouble no matter what, but still.) And while he's more of an anime-and-luchadors-and-wrestling guy, he's a huge nerd, so it'll be interesting to let him loose in a superhero-type canon. He won't appreciate the shortage of anime girls, though.

Why do you believe this character fits into this game’s setting?
Travis has seen more than his share of blood, even before he became an assassin. His parents are DEEEEAAAAAAD were brutally killed in front of him years ago, and he's since trained himself to hold his own, with and without a weapon. Though his style of fighting is a bit haphazard and rough, he's got quite a bit of experience in both swordplay and wrestling. He won't hesitate to use force if he needs to. He'll probably jump at the chance to kill something, actually. He's also very, very resilient. Part of this comes from the fact that he's a video game character, but he's gone through a lot of really nasty injuries even past comic violence. Punches through the chest, bullet wounds, stabbings, chainsaws, electric shocks, laser beams, explosives...and yet, Travis is still in one piece. If Gotham gets rough, he'll just keep on going--he's persistent to the death once he sets his mind on something. He isn't the type to give up.

How do you intend to fit this character into a panfandom setting?
Oh, he is so used to strange people in strange outfits. All of the assassins in his series are ridiculous and improbable, so he won't have a problem being rude to everyone indiscriminately. He's also being taken from a point in canon that is RIGHT before he gets the opportunity to get his revenge on the guy who had his best friend killed, so... Travis will be very eager to get home. He'll be willing to talk to anyone who will help him get back.

What are your plans for your character in this game?
First of all, he's going to need a job. In his canon he did a lot of odd jobs in-between assassination gigs, so even if he isn't able to go out and kill things, he'll still be able to make enough money to survive. Secondly, he's being taken from a very important turning point in his canon--Travis, while still very fixated on revenge and violence, finally becomes aware that all people, even killers, are humans and should be treated as such; he also says that he wants to be "a hero by [his] own standards". These revelations are probably not going to be meshing well with his usual practice of killing people for money and sport. I'm looking forward to playing Travis off villains (and heroes and anti-heroes!) like and unlike him in their methods and their beliefs; I want to give him the opportunity to figure out what he really wants out of life and to grow in one direction or the other. It's going to take a LOT to put him straight on either path. I'm also looking forward to pitting him against other characters in fights, with and without weapons! He's got quite a bit of aggression to work out, and upon arrival, he's not going to appreciate having his revenge mission put on hold.

Writing Samples

Log/Third Person Sample:

"N-no! Please, don't--please don't kill me! I'll--"
"Yeah, yeah. Save it for someone who cares, dipshit."

He brought his beam katana straight down onto the man's skull to split him lengthwise; he was suddenly dead, no longer a petty thief but now two halves of a hissing, still-quivering corpse that crumpled to the ground in a heap.

Travis Touchdown flicked a switch on the weapon's hilt, and the beam of humming green light disappeared in an instant.

"Fucker got blood on my shoes." He scoffed. "I'm not exactly a millionaire here..."

He delivered a kick to the body for good measure. Investigating on his own hadn't been going well at all--everything had just led to dead ends like these, to more thugs who didn't have any more of a clue about how to go home than Travis did. These bastards were, frankly, a waste of his effort and of his time. And as if he had any time to spare! Turning on a heel, he shoved his hands into his pockets and stalked off, a keyring jingling faintly in his pocket. This nonsense wasn't getting him any closer to Santa Destroy. Hardly any of the criminals around here were worth lifting his weapon to, either; all the confrontations so far had been dull. Painfully so. Barring the capes, of course. He hadn't gotten an opportunity to face any of those madmen yet.

Speaking of which.

"What's this...?"

He peered down at the ground, squinting, and nudged his foot again. Something metal...something that, he observed, was sharp and bat-shaped. Travis bent to pick up the batarang and turned it over in his hands a few times. Who else would know how to get out of this maze better than the world's greatest detective?

Travis's face slowly spread into a grin.

"Not the Batt I was expecting, but fuck. Beggars can't be choosers, right?"

Journal Entry/First Person Sample:

[There's a very shaky view of a dark-haired man; his face and sunglasses are splattered with blood. He doesn't look pleased. At all.]

Who the hell brought me here, and what the fuck do you want with me?! I don't have time for games--I have more important things to worry about.

[Travis removes his sunglasses and, with a scowl, wipes them off on his shirt.]

...Shit. I don't even know where 'here' is...
