and fuck you democrats for bowing down to this guy. What dems should have done is to tell him to play ball or that they would strip him of his committee seats. The senate democrats are pathetic. Drew
the threat of that doesnt bother me at all. I'd rather that and the dems show some spine... I'm not that surprised my opinion of politicians is so remarkably low right now... Drew
It's 2000 pages long, it costs upwards of two trillion so far, though we can't even get an actual figure; no one outside the Democratic Senate leadership is even allowed to see the actual changes to the bill and all the pork they conceded to buy off more votes, it MUST be done because we are in a CRISIS and it's time to PANIC and just TRUST US on this; we're Democrats and we know best.
Oh look, they just ran through another $1.1 trillion in unrelated omnibus pork spending last night. Obama just signed off on it.
The Democrats deserve to lose everything they're about to lose. I never expected them to fuck it up this hard, this fast.
.. Let him Caucus with the Republicans. Make it all the more obvious when he comes up for reelection in 2.5 years in a state that's super blue..
As for health care--My best money is on the fact that it will eventually have to go through reconcilliation--which will only require 51 votes in the Senate.. of course, the most likely form of the bill to do that will be an extension of medicare--so by doing all this shit, it is more and more likely that the comprehensive health care that will come along will basically be the more progressive single payer model of medicare for everyone.. (which was the original intention with medicare all along)...
A pig in make up is still a pig, and dems with a super majority are still a bunch of spineless pussies.
What really baffles me is Dean, calling for the bill to be killed. There is no chance in hell that the dem's will hold on to their current seat lead come next election, so he wants to essentially give the GOP a win here and try again when it will be even harder? I can understand not considering it progressive enough, but I don't see why things like the public option and earlier medicare buy-in can't simply be done at a later date on their own, once the foundation for them, ie this watered down bill, has been passed.
They really, really, really need to stop coddling Lieberman though. He's the opposite of a RINO.
