Sorry my opinion about McCain-Feingold wasn't more complex an nuanced. For years and years I simply thought it was just more good intentions paving a certain same old road.

Persuasion is also more effective face to face because of the auditory/visual stimulation. when you see my face and my tone of voice, it can have a much stronger impact, particularly if you are arguing about a topic you have a vested emotional interest in. Emotions are actually much more persuasive than facts.

I am so with you on this. All the more disconcerting to me, sensible liberal that I try to be, when it comes from the left.

I do hope that some kind of contingency plan is developed for when foreign corporations/governments figure out how to get in on this...and rest assured, they will!
