in Nature from former and current folks involved with the IPCC. Most were not exactly happy about 'climategate' but they were glad that it highlighted a problem many of them had and that is with how global climate change data is disseminated. Towards that end apparently the Obama administration is planning on making ALL data used by our (U.S.)

well in some cases the data wasn't just available immediately for download but would be provided upon request. The problem with the guy at the university of East Anglia was that he apparently just ignored requests for his data. He basically said he'd rather destroy the data rather than give it to anti-global climate change folks (who were many of the folks requesting it)...
