[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Selendis
Age: 266
Gender: Female
Fandom: StarCraft
Timeline: Selendis is taken from shortly after her appearance in Wings of Liberty, after being defeated by James Raynor in her mission to burn a planet due to its infestation. Selendis would be either returning to her current home planet of Shakuras, or continuing her patrol throughout the sector.
History:
Wiki Entry Selendis is part of the protoss warrior caste, the Templar. She served and trained under Tassadar, and later Artanis, before achieving the position of Executor herself. Selendis is the first female of her people to hold such a powerful military position, and she faces some opposition and criticism within the protoss Hierarchy, the current acting government.
During the Great War, she fought to defend her people and her homeworld Aiur from the ravenous Zerg swarm. After Tassadar's sacrifice to kill the Overmind, Selendis took part in the evacuation of their world, as it was overrun by the uncontrollable Zerg broods. She returned to Aiur with Artanis and Zeratul to rescue any survivors, only to find that there was no way to save them without their rescuers dying with them. Though it pained them all, they left the survivors for dead, and kept their discovery a secret from the rest of their people.
The protoss regrouped on the planet Shakuras, where the outcasts known as the Dark Templar accepted them with open arms. When Executor Artanis was made hierarch, he appointed Selendis to take his place as the acting Executor. Four years after the Great War and the evacuation of Aiur, a group of protoss and one terran female appeared on Shakuras, claiming to be survivors with an important mission. Selendis was in charge of sorting out their story, as the protoss had been addicted to a powerful mind altering drug, and the terran was untrustworthy.
Selendis was able to get the truth by communicating with the protoss within the Khala, which they had been previously unable to access due to the drug in their systems. The story was confirmed by the terran female, Rosemary Dahl: a protoss preserver, an individual that holds within them the memories of all their people, was in grave danger from the Dark Archon Ulrezaj. While the preserver, Zamara, had technically died, her essence was being carried within the brain of Dahl's friend, Jacob Ramsey.
Selendis believed in the importance of saving the preserver, but with her people still recovering from the trauma of the Great War, it would be risky to face such a powerful opponent. She wished to save the preserver, but she had to put the matter before the hierarchy, as it was deemed too important for her alone to decide. Selendis was met with some opposition, but she was able to convince her doubters by playing their own fears against them. Hierarch Artanis, who had final say in the matter, voted in her favor.
Selendis led the rescue party to the Dark Templar sanctuary on the moon Ehlna, at the same time it was attacked by the Zerg, the Terran Dominion, and Ulrezaj. Her job was to protect the monks and the preserver, whose essence would soon be removed from the terran that was carrying her. Selendis was able to buy them some time by negotiating with Ethan Stewart, an infested terran serving Sarah Kerrigan. When he inevitably attacked the sanctuary, Selendis initially held off the Zerg herself, but was then assisted by Rosemary Dahl.
Once the Zerg and Ulrezaj had been defeated, the terran Dominion forces moved in to capture the unguarded sanctuary and claim it as their own. Selendis managed to escape sometime during the battle, and returned with her fleet to evict the terrans.
Not long after, Selendis' fleet detected a zerg infestation on a planet recently colonized by human refugees. She intended to purge the infestation by burning the planet, much like Tassadar had done before her, but she was challenged by James Raynor. Though he was loathe to fight her, Raynor defended the colony from her attack, believing the people there could be saved. Selendis was forced to retreat before sustaining heavy losses, leaving Raynor to deal with the infestation on his own terms.
Character Personality:
Selendis is wholly devoted to her people and what she believes in to the point that she can come off as abrasive to outsiders. She knows she's constantly being judged by her opposition because of her age and gender, but she also refuses to let them, or anyone else, intimidate her. While she's not necessarily vain, Selendis takes great care in how she presents herself, especially in front of her superiors.
Selendis dislikes chaos, uncertainty and guessing. She'd rather have everything planned out ahead of time and minimize losses on her part. Despite this, she is still prepared to act quickly when a situation calls for it, most notably when it comes to dealing with Zerg infestations. Otherwise she approaches conflict with caution.
She is almost always initially suspicious of anyone outside of her race, until she can determine whether or not they are a threat. Since she's accustomed to sharing minds with her people, she'll do the same to terrans, whether or not they want her to do so. Once they've proven themselves to her, she treats them with the utmost respect and honor. Earning her respect, however, is a long road if the individual is terran. Her loyalty is unshakable and she has been willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good on at least one occasion.
Selendis is a warrior at heart, and honor governs her actions and decisions. She won't kill out of hate or vengeance, only out of duty and necessity. When it comes to her enemies, she has absolutely no sympathy for them. As her people have perfected combat to an art form, Selendis considers combat to be a glorious battle of wills - the greater the foe, the greater the challenge for glory.
Underneath it all, Selendis longs for her ruined homeworld and the day that the protoss can reclaim it as their own. Until then, she devotes everything that is in her to protecting and serving her people.
Character Abilities:
Physically, Selendis' race is at the height of their evolutionary ladder. She is highly adaptable to harsh conditions and weather, and can go a long time without sustenance. Her race is considered photosynthetic in nature, taking in nutrients from the sun and the vast cosmos during the night time. Even though they lack a mouth, protoss still require water, and what they need is absorbed through their skin.
The protoss communicate via telepathy, as they are race with highly developed psionic abilities. They speak their own language, Khalani, which is incomprehensible to humans, unless the thoughts are properly translated. All protoss have nerve cords, which extend from the back of their heads and are what allow them to communicate their emotions. Trained individuals can focus their psionic energies into weapons, or other devastating attacks.
As a Templar, Selendis is trained in hand to hand combat, and can channel her psionic energy through Khaydarin crystals to create psi blades. Without these weapons, Selendis still has sharp claws to defend herself, a byproduct of the dangerous jungle her ancestors evolved from. She also has incredible endurance, and strong digitigrade legs.
As Executor, she commands a Carrier, a heavily armored warship capable of housing many of the smaller ships within her fleet.
Character Weaknesses:
Selendis' deep loyalty to her people often makes her unsympathetic towards anyone outside of her race. As Executor, her first duty is to her people, and she is not afraid to sacrifice others in order to achieve this. When Selendis discovered the infested colony on Haven, she was determined to purify it, regardless of the lives of those who were not yet infested.
Selendis does not seem to care much for the human race as a whole. During the mission to rescue the protoss preserver, Selendis was not in the least bit concerned about the well being of the human carrying the preserver in his mind. She referred to him as 'the host', instead of his proper name. When it comes to human females, her callousness towards humans becomes suspicious, and she does not hesitate to invade their thoughts.
While she is young and more adaptable to change then her predecessors, Selendis is still incredibly traditional. Any major changes within her society and her own lifestyle require a lot of thought and time for transition. When it comes to battle, however, she does not like to hesitate. There are times when the desire to protect her people will overwhelm her better judgment.
[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Meister:
As the current High Executor of her race, Selendis commands the entirety of their military. She is accustomed to giving orders, and seeing those orders obeyed. Selendis expects this sort of obedience from her troops because she is as loyal to them as they are to her, and what they do, they do together. Working with a partner or larger group is natural to her, but her strength lies in her ability to lead that group.
Meister Ability: Soul Speak
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: Loyal, focused, brave, eager, determined, and proud
Soul Appearance: Selendis' soul would be golden-blue, typically flashing a brighter blue.

First Person:
[The screen is slightly tilted and out of focus, until the operator seems to figure out how the communicator works. When Selendis' face is in full view, it is very easy to tell, despite her lack of a mouth and nose, that she is equal parts confused and angry. When she speaks, her mental voice is strong and clear, as well as commanding.]
While this method of communication is crude, it appears it is my only option. I am less inclined to take part in this war, as I have my own people to care for and another war to fight. At this time I am requesting aide, for I cannot remain in this place indefinitely. If it is... entirely necessary, I will offer my assistance to those who need require it. Ultimately, however, I must return to my people as swiftly as possible.
En Taro Tassadar.
[She glares that screen, or maybe you, and after some annoyed jabbing at the communicator, the video cuts off.]
Third Person:
The journey back to Shakuras felt like it was taking ages, if only because, for once, she was dreading the return. The hierarchy would want to know why she had engaged James Raynor in battle over the little planet known as Haven, and details on the extent of the Zerg infestation. That James Raynor, hero and friend to the protoss, would have risen against them in battle would perhaps be the most upsetting news.
There wasn't time to properly rest, of course, but Selendis leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes. She shut out everything but the voices and thoughts of her crew, their mental presence soothing in their solidarity. It was only a moment's indulgence, but as she straightened up, she was nearly struck blind as pain lanced up her nerve cords. The pain was short lived, but it left her disoriented and reeling in darkness.
She didn't feel much better once she finally opened her eyes. Selendis quailed at the silence in her head before realizing she wasn't in her flagship any longer. The first thing she did was reach out to her crew with her mind, only to find no one, as if she were the only protoss left in the universe. Only after that did she notice the chamber she was in, a place she had never seen nor been in before. Selendis slowly pushed herself to her feet, checking to make certain she was in one piece. She still wore her armor, but it didn't seem to be generating its protective force field. The Khaydarin crystals embedded in the armor were dull and unresponsive, which was just as unnerving as her loss of contact with her people.
Selendis didn't know where she was, or how she had gotten here. She only knew that she had to escape, and return to her people at once. The doors before her looked heavy and implacable, but she would find a way out, she would escape this bizarre, hellishly silent prison. No sooner had she taken her first step forward to challenge the doors, then the image of a red-haired terran flickered into view. She knew the language he spoke, and understand the words, but she felt numb to his explanation and reassurances.
Fury boiled beneath her steely composure. She was not fighting someone else's war for them, least of all some bizarre group of terrans. Not when she had her own people to defend. No, there was a way out of this, and by Adun, she was going to find it.
[ NOTES ]
A lot of her canon is still fairly thin, so I've guessed on a few things, mostly her age and taken some liberties concerning relationships with the existing characters.
