[scene] BEWBATTACK!

Kristoph *After having talked to Lana, Kristoph decides it's finally time to break the news to his employee. He prepares meticulously, writing out the information he has on April onto notepad paper in very straight lines. At long last he sighs and moves to the doorway of Apollo's mini office.*

Kristoph Mr. Justice, please come in here a moment.

Apollo *Apollo is working hard at his desk, as per usual, when his boss graces the doorway. He looks up immediately when he hears his name and is heading toward the conjoining room before he even remembers to respond.* Sir...?

Kristoph *Instead of sitting back down Kristoph leans against his desk. He hands Apollo the paper.* I need you to conduct an important interview for me.

Apollo *He takes the paper ritualistically and looks it over, face evolving into mild confusion as his eyes go down the paper.* If you don’t mind me asking, sir...what exactly is this about?

Kristoph It's something of a...semi-personal manner. *Kristoph debates internally for a moment and decides on his tactic.*

Kristoph She is accusing a client of ours of having fathered her unborn baby. I've already hired a private investigator to look into it, but I'd like you to talk to her as well.

Apollo *Apollo decides not to press any further, though he still feels that there’s a lot he doesn’t know here.* Yes, sir. *pause* I’m sorry to ask so many questions, Mr. Gavin, but why does this case have to go to court? Couldn’t the client just wait for the baby to be born...and then conduct a DNA test?

Kristoph It's not going to court. In fact, I'd like you play a long with her a little, if you don't mind. *He smiles, though there's no warmth.* See if you can find out how much money she wants, what she plans to use it on. Make her feel like we're playing ball. You know what I mean?

Apollo Right. I can do that. *He puts on a determined smile.* Leave it to me, sir.

Kristoph Good, good. *As an afterthought he hands Apollo a twenty from his wallet.* Treat her to lunch while you're at it. More flies with honey, and all that.

Apollo *There's a moment of hesitation before Apollo takes the money.* Right. And where am I meeting this person... *He looks at the memo he was given again.* 'Miss May'...for our interview?

Kristoph Her address is written at the bottom. She won't know you're coming, but there's something to be said for the element of surprise, no?

Apollo *Apollo is suddenly uneasy.* If you say so, Mr. Gavin. *He composes himself, and speaks again, a little too loudly.* I'm on my way.

Kristoph Good luck. *With a smile he rounds his desk to sit behind his computer once more.*

~~~~~~
Apollo *He arrives at the address with a bit of skepticism, checking the memo a few times to make sure he has it right. Once he’s confident enough, Apollo knocks on the door sharply a few times and then waits, fixing his face into what he feels is a good “I’m here for business!” expression.*
April *has been lazily lounging on the couch, sipping iced coffee when she is interrupted by the knocks. She walks to the door in annoyance, wondering who it could be, and takes a quick look through the peep hole. All she sees is a harmless-looking, antennae-haired young man on the other side, but it is the little gold badge he wears on his lapel that alarms her.*
April *Not having enough time to attach her phony belly, she quickly snatches a pillow off the couch and stuffs it under her summer dress. Finally, she opens the door, putting on her sweetest smile* Like, can I help you?
Apollo *Apollo blinks as the door opens and takes in the sight of a vibrant woman with an awkward lump around her middle. Suddenly aware that he’s staring, his fierce gaze snaps up to stare
April right in the face with a small blush on his cheeks.* You must be Miss April May. I’m Apollo Justice, attorney at law--I’ve come to ask you a few questions, if that’s all right.
April Aww, you're one of those silly lawyers, too? *giggles* But you're so cute and innocent-looking! *opens the door wider for him* Come in! Don't worry, I don't bite....hard.
Apollo *groans inwardly at the lack of intimidation, and tries to make his voice more stern.* Actually, Miss May, I was hoping to have this discussion over lunch.
April Oh! Why didn't you say so, darling! *her smile is almost predatory* I'll have to warn you, though. A date with Miss May doesn't come cheap..! *she winks*
Apollo It's not a date, Miss May, it's just... *He stops, deciding that it's not in his best interests to argue.* Alright. You choose where we eat, and I get to ask you a few questions.
~~~~~~

April *naturally, of all eateries in close proximity, April chooses the most expensive of the bunch--an upscale Italian café down the street. Upon being shown to their table, she promptly orders herself an iced coffee and salad for starters, before turning her attention to Apollo* So, did Klavy send you to check up on me and his baby or something?

Apollo *Apollo orders water, and figures that this is all he'll need. He immediately takes out the memo given to him by Mr. Gavin and skims it importantly while taking small sips from his water, until April speaks.* Klavy...You wouldn't be referring to...Klavier? Klavier Gavin? *chokes a little bit*

April *teasingly* Well, duh! Who else would I be talking about? *attempts to cross her legs out of habit, but fails due to the fluffy obstruction stuffed beneath her clothes. She gives up and leans in closer instead, gently caressing her “belly”* Teehee! He's been a bit of a bad boy, as you can see...

Apollo *Apollo attempts to clear his lungs of all the water he recently inhaled.* Right...so, er, you're accusing Prosecutor Gavin of impregnating you? *His eyes dart swiftly between her face and his notes.* ...On what grounds?

April Grounds? *she blinks innocently* Like, what do you mean "grounds"? *scoots in even closer, so that her ample bosom practically rests under his nose* You do know how babies are made, don't you, little boy?

Apollo *He tries to shrink back in his chair, face flushing as red as his suit.* I'm twenty-one years old, Miss May...of course I know... *He clears his throat and fixes his eyes on her face.* You're saying that Klavier Gavin had...unprotected sex with you?

April *giggles* Oh, you’re so naughty! That's such a bold thing to ask a lady! *nonchalantly takes a sip of the iced coffee that’s been placed before her* Well, like, if you truly must know all those icky details...that's exactly what happened.

Apollo *sighs in relief when the iced coffee comes, as it distracts April for a moment.* Right...but my client asserts that he did no such thing with you. *He is very slowly inching away to avoid another assault.*

April *simply* Well, he's wrong.

Apollo *remembers what Mr. Gavin instructed him to do.* Well...in the event that this...really is my client's baby, what do you expect from him?

April *smiles sweetly, idly tracing a manicured finger around the rim of her glass* I expect for him to support us, of course. It's the least a daddy can do for his baby, don't you think?

Apollo *eyes trained on the memo.* Ah...right. So you're looking for some sort of steady payment. *pause* And what if the baby isn't Mr. Gav--I mean, my client's?

April *continues to play with the perspiration on the glass, seemingly in thought* Hm... *After a pause* A steady payment would work, I guess. But like, I'd kinda prefer a full, one-time kind of thing, y'know? Like, enough that I'm sure we'll be taken care of for the rest of our lives? *looks up at him with a smile, completely ignoring his second question* I guess I'll leave that for you and your "client" to figure out, though.

Polly *thinks that this all sounds very fishy, and he feels a tightening sensation...in his wrist? Shaking it off, he continues to do what Mr. Gavin instructed.* A one-time payment? ...How much are you asking for?

April *bats her eyelashes* It wouldn't be very lady-like of me to say, now would it, Mr. Lawyer? *yet despite this, she lowers her voice and whispers into his ear* I'd say a million would suffice. Klavy's a hot-shot rock god, he could afford to spare that much, right?

Polly *chokes slightly at the sum, eyes going wide.* Y-You're asking for quite a bit, Miss May...even for someone with money to burn. *pulls away instinctively again, wanting to end this interview.*

April *giggles at his reaction* You know, you're kinda cute when you're flustered! Your face turns the same color as your suit! *she reclines in her chair and lovingly pats her make-shift baby bump* I'd say it's a fair price. Especially if Klavy wants to like, stay out of those nasty tabloids.

Polly *can almost feel his meticulously styled hair drooping in exasperation, but otherwise ignores the comment and tries for a more serious face yet again.* Well, my client will attempt to negotiate with you about your demands, Miss May. But there's one more thing that's been bothering me...why don't you wait until you can get a DNA test done? It seems like the best thing to do, in your position.

April *for a moment her face visibly clouds* I-I don't think that's like, any of your business! But I guess this is to be expected from you nosey little lawyers...! You're all the same! *quickly clears her throat and responds as sweetly as possible* Anyway. Do me a favor and tell your "client" that he should man up and step up to the plate instead of sending his little gophers over to do his dirty work?

Polly *a comic look of shock slides on to his face as April suddenly changes in demeanor. His face sticks like this even as she returns to "normal".* W-Well, I'm just doing my job. We'll be waiting for your demands, Miss May. *He figures that the interview is more or less over, but the weird feeling that there's something wrong here lingers.*

April Ooh, good then! Well, tell Klavy me and his baby says hi! *gets up with an exaggerated oomph, just as the waiter arrives with the salad she had previously ordered* I think I just felt the baby kick...so like, I think that means it's time to go. *winks at the young attorney* Thanks for the iced coffee, Mr. Lawyer.

Polly Uh, right. *still sitting in shocked contemplation, and only looks up when he realizes that April's turned to leave.* No...problem. *feels the pointed glare of the waiter on his back and shrinks in his seat, shoving the memo with his notes on it in his vest pocket. He feels a migraine coming on.*

April *her smile fades the moment she steps out onto the street* Tch. *being interrogated by a pointy-haired young man in a colorful suit gives her a distinct sense of de ja vu. Perhaps she should have learned her lesson the first time and kept her distance from anyone lawyer-related--but she knows it's far too late to back down now*
