ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
GENERAL
[Name:] Apollo Justice
[Age:] 21
[Gender:] Male
[Marital Status:] Single
[Sexuality:] He hasn’t thought about that at all, but he should probably get a job before he can think about dating.
[Occupation:] Assistant to Kristoph Gavin of the Gavin & Co. Law Firm.
CONNECTIONS
[Family:]
Apollo has no family that he can remember. He heard that his father died in some kind of freak accident (though he never knew who the man was, or what kind of accident he was involved in), and that his mother left him with a distant relative of his father’s. That relative was an elderly woman, supposedly his father’s mother, but she’d never tell him the names of either of his parents.
She, incidentally, introduced him to the wonders of hair gel and how he could use it to get his hair into a perfect, two-pronged shape.
[Friends:]
Embarrassingly, his struggle through law school and many moves kept him from meeting anyone that he could call a “friend”. Mostly he has acquaintances from law school and knows of defense firms in Los Angeles (the firms he has circled in the phone book to contact for a job). Apollo hopes that he’ll be able to make friends once he’s better settled in his new apartment. Then again, given his line of work, he’s probably more inclined to make enemies.
[Enemies:]
Enemies? It’s too early in his career for Apollo to have enemies, though he suspects that after working awhile as a defense lawyer, he’ll make plenty of them. Back in law school his determination and subsequent high marks earned him jealous onlookers, but they only went so far as to muss his hair violently whenever he received an A on a test.
[Other:]
Phoenix Wright - As if anyone starting out as a defense attorney doesn’t know the renowned Phoenix Wright! He’s always been very interested in Mr. Wright, mostly because of how well he did in the courtroom. Well, before he was stripped of his badge, of course. Apollo isn’t too sure that the charges against Wright were entirely correct; after all, why would an ace attorney call for forged evidence?
In any case, Wright is one of the major reasons why Apollo became a lawyer, and he used many tapes of his trials during his junior year of college to practise his defense attorney moves.
Kristoph Gavin - He’s the proprietor of the Gavin & Co. Law Firm, to which Apollo was hired little more than a month ago. He's a pretty strict boss, but he's also the best defense attorney in the city. It's a well-known fact that Apollo is intimidated by the man.
Klavier Gavin - Kristoph’s little brother, or so he’s heard. He’s also heard that he’s a prosecutor, but that’s about it. Whatever the case, they’ll probably meet in court.
Ron DeLite - There’s no way that Apollo could forget that guy from law school-Ron’s more masterful with his hair than he could ever hope to be. At least he has his Chords of Steel to keep him a step above.
CHARACTER
[General personality:]
Apollo is really driven, which was an asset to him throughout law school. However, he’s clumsy and gets nervous easily, which sort of counteracts his strong motivation. He likes waking up at about five in the morning to work on his Chords of Steel, just in case he's given an unexpected shot in court. After that, he spends about an hour styling his hair the way he likes it, and then his day is allowed to begin. He is also quite fond of the colour red, and buys his clothes mostly in that colour. He thinks it makes him look intimidating and impressive.
He is afraid of heights, and he’s not too fond of loud, obnoxious music, either. His appearance and quickness to become anxious belies the fact that he’s actually very intelligent. When he’s in his element, though, all anxiety is forgotten and he lets everyone know exactly how he got through law school in one piece. He’s determined and confident when it comes to his trade, though sometimes can be a little more sarcastic than he needs to in certain situations.
One other talent that he possesses is the ability to notice little things that people do. He doesn’t quite know what it means yet, but for some reason it becomes really obvious to him when someone is nervous or lying about something. He’s filed this under the “weird and useless things that I can do” list in his mind, along with licking his elbow and screaming “OBJECTION!” loud enough for the next building over to hear.
[Appearance:]
Apollo is a GS4 character.
[Background:]
Apollo lived with his grandmother until he was about sixteen and moved onto a college campus. His life then was hazy and uncertain; the only thing he brought back from his childhood was a golden bracelet that was supposedly given to him by his mother, as this was the only information his caregiver divulged about his family. She didn’t even tell him his last name; instead, she christened him herself with the last name “Justice”, which she picked up from an early morning cartoon the day he was brought into her care.
His memory picks up around the time that he arrived at the nearby university. His major was in the performing arts (his grammy said he was “destined for it”, but he never knew what she meant by that), but he quickly began studying law after reading a particularly interesting news article about a man by the name of Phoenix Wright. Apollo was really inspired by what the man had done, and gave up his future on stage after only two semesters. The only thing he learned from the class was how to project his voice with gusto, and he still plans to use that particular skill in court.
Once he completed his necessary time in law school, he parted his grandmother’s house for prospects in the city where all of the “good” attorneys trained and left their mark on the judicial system. The nerve-racking big city life gave him sweaty palms for a week, but during that time he managed to rent an apartment with a futon and a microwave, a couple of chairs, a small desk for storing paperwork and (hopefully in the future) case files, and a healthy supply of ramen noodles. He went through the noodles in three days and then swore off of them for a good, long time.
After searching relentlessly for a job opportunity at many a firm, Apollo finally found work with Gavin & Co. as Kristoph Gavin's assistant and secretary. It was tedious work at first (he still has nightmares about filing paperwork and answering phones), but after he recently received the opportunity to take and pass his bar exam, his fervour for the job took hold again. He's now waiting for his opportunity to stand in court, though is admittedly pretty apprehensive about the idea.
