The Re-Write

Had the night off tonight (students are in exams), which means I had plenty of time to write. Remember that old story I opened up a while back that was so encouraging because it sucked so bad and basically showed how far I'd come? So how was that workshop? You can email me if you'd rather not post it.

It's great! I came away with quite a bit from it I think. The level one was mostly stuff I knew, but because it was my first writing class I thought it was good to hear the basics over again as a refresher. Also found the character section to be useful as it is an area I struggle with. I finished the 2nd class of the Level Two courses this week. I'd recommend taking Level Two. A lot of useful tools writers can use, I think. Overall good and affordable, though in your case (I think you took another workshop, right?) I'd be concerned about overlap. Email me if you have any questions about it. :-)

Awesome. That's five. Now I just gotta think how to organize all this. I guess we could have a yahoo group where we could post discussion questions.

Oh cool, good luck with the story re-write--sounds like a fun experiment. :)

With the book club, one idea might be to work from a pre-existing list like Hugo or World Fantasy award winners.

Or maybe Oprah's Book Cult (kidding!) :D
