Lazy Morning Eats on the Cheap

Dec 23, 2009 10:09

Hey everybody! It's the last week of the month, and my monthly LJ column is overdue... Unfortunately I ran into a roadblock preparing my big piece on mass transit in Detroit... Hopefully that will be ready sometime in January. Maybe. So... it's another cooking entry by default... because I'm notoriously lazy... and it's Christmas time... and being ( Read more... )

:-)

Max, a.k.a. Dood, is the red satin on the left, and Liz, a.k.a. Grrl, is the jet satin on the right.

I too hate sleep dep and occasional random bouts of insomnia tend to force it upon me. There are few things worse.

Now, of all the things on which I could waste my money, (CD's, DVD's, action figures... j/k) I've always figured that it may as well be good food.

Concur on this too. I've actually bought some Amy's Kitchen items and very much enjoy them, but I do balk at the price. That said, if there is one thing which unquestionably deserves a little extra money for the sake of quality, it's food.

When I wake up in the morning, I want to eat immediately, but with morning grogginess and stiff muscles, I don't want exactly want to cook either.I have the same problem, of course especially when I'm sleep-deprived. For this reason, I tend to just go with a simple, old staple like eggs and toast ( ... )

I'm glad that you agree. Good food is worth doling out the extra cash if you can spare it. That's cool that you're into organic, the stuff is all around better, and being conscious about animal cruelty issues is certainly something I appreciate in a person.

Amy's is expensive though. That's why I'm slowly starting to figure out the recipes on my own, preparing them in bulk in the evening, storing the food in microwave safe retainers in my freezer, and then nuking the stuff in the morning. Just like busting out some Amy's, except at a third of the price. :-)

OHMAHGOODNESS, those buns!! <3 Your little ones are seriously too cute for words :3

Also, that breakfast looks amazing, holy cow! I'd forgotten how enjoyable (and easy!) tofu scrambles are! Inspired by you, I'm definitely going to have to make one in the near future ;)

Oh and in response to this statement: Indeed, a good night's rest is crucial to my sanity... it keeps me from killing people. --how I couldn't agree with you more, hehe.. it's especially terrible when you don't get enough sleep, are trapped in crowded suburbia (*coughLAcough*), and people drive like f#&king idiots... srsly, see the RABBIT RAGE that emerges! GRAAHHH >:O

Okay, that aside, back to the totallyadorablebuns-- I love them. ;3

Yeah, what can I say about mah Dood(left) & Grrl(right)? They're my everyday joy! Rabbits are the demi-gods of cute. Everybody loves them. They're just too wonderful to resist! ;-D I'll probably be doing a post on them a little later so stay tuned!

A job as a veg*n cook?! That would be sooooo so sweeeet! I'm so moving to the U.K. now!!! XD

They are cute, aren't they? They're my everyday joy, what else can I say? :-D They actually share all their rations with each other, so they nuzzle like that when they eat. I think it's hilarious when they snatch food from each other, back and forth. XD
