yellow dust? As in pine pollen? Nasty thick stuff, gets everywhere.

I know that stuff from New England. Nasty indeed. But Yellow Dust is different. I'd point you to wikipedia "Asian Dust", but the site's down at the moment. It's basically desert sand mixed with airborne junk (like heavy metals) from factories in China and Mongolia.
