That's ten times funnier than whether Americans take their shoes off in the house, you crawling around to turn off the hot water heater instead of just taking your shoes off to do it.

Some do, some don't. We never did, but now that there's a barn and chickens and the sh*t that goes with that, you don't wear your barn shoes in the house, no. They come off at the door or in the mudroom. But otherwise, we do wear street shoes in the house around here. Or go barefoot. Or wear slippers.

When I was a young pup, I went barefoot, proudly, 8 months out of the year in the Boston area. My feet were usually filthy. My mother insisted that I put shoes ON to come into the house.
