canon.
wammy's.
Quillish Wammy aka Watari. - Possibly the only person L has genuine feelings towards. He cares about Watari, and in return Watari is the only person who understands L nearly completely. Watari is very much like a father or guardian, his enabler. He opens L's doors.
--During the FF3 plot Watari was the one haunting him. He managed to let go and had a much needed discussion with the older man about Kira, Purgatory and the successors.
Mihael Keehl aka Mello. - One of L's successors. L spent the most time with Mello while he was at Wammy's, telling him several stories of his cases and going as far as promising to catch Kira. L does not understand Mello well - his strong emotions and reactions often cause trouble for himself and L. Regardless L finds himself cleaning up the messes. He cares about Mello as family, a son or brother, something he does not quite understand. L is very proud of Mello's part in the Kira case.
- After Mello's death by Heine L was quite torn. He had Heine killed and took care of Mello's body, dealing with all sorts of troublesome emotions he normally has full reign over. He realizes the depth of how one cares for their family and caring in such a way, like he cared for Watari, worries him. He is carefully testing the waters.
Nate River aka Near. - Another of L's successors. Near seems the most like L out of the successors and because of this L finds it easier to interact with him then most people. He can often use silence or touch to convey messages to the white haired boy. He is incredibly proud of Near's victory over Kira. In Purgatorium he finds himself settling into a more father/brother like role with Near, which he struggles with but gives while he has the chance. He believes, since Near is not dead, that he will return to where they belong one day.
Mail Jeevas aka Matt. - Another of L's successor's, the third brightest at Wammy's. L does not know Matt well - Matt was always Roger's concern or Mello's. He understands the black and white basics of Matt and in Purgatorium is awkwardly fitting into whatever place he has in Matt's life. He considers Matt one of his three 'family members' in this place.
A. - L's first successor who killed himself under the pressure. L considers A his first mistake.
Beyond Birthday aka BB or B. - One of the two original successors to L's name. B was for Backup and he was deemed the alternative successor to A. BB committed a string of nearly unsolvable murders in order to defeat L by creating the perfect crime. L considers B his greatest mistake.
- After securing the safety of Mello's house through a bit of trickery L was knocked out and kidnapped by B, later to be saved by Mello, Yuki and Treize. L and B have begun a 'game' of sorts, to out do the other. L was incredibly irritated by the events and wishes to return B the trouble he was caused.
kira case.
Kira. - The opponent. The other side of chess board. L's great rival in their psychological war. Despite his distaste for Kira and his methods L enjoyed the chase. Kira remains the only opponent he put his life on the line to catch.
To L the war is still going on.
Light Yagami. - Kira. In his final breath Light's face proved this fact. L spent several (months? weeks? I'm unsure) handcuffed to him. If Light had not been Kira they could have perhaps had a sincere friendship, though Light annoys him with his excessive morality, obsession with perfection and what is deemed 'normal.' Regardless L respects his intelligence as close or perhaps even equal to his own. He found Light challenging, a worthy adversary and aid. He wanted, and still does, Light to be Kira. Anyone else would have been disappointing.
Soichiro Yagami. - Light Yagami's father and the chief of the Japanese Police. L respects him but is also annoyed by his insistence on certain methods for moralities sake.
Touta Mastuda. - Part of the Task Force. L deems him an idiot but finds uses for him regardless.
Misa Amane. - The second Kira. An annoying girl obsessed with Light and Kira. L is irritated by her but finds uses for her by manipulating her love of Light. His 'friend.'
Rest of the Task Force. - Surprisingly useful but expendable.
Aiber and Weddy. - A con man and a thief. Useful enough L allowed them to see his face. Tools for the investigation.
shinigami and other.
Rem. - The shinigami that killed him. L has no real opinion on the creature besides mild irritation.
Naomi Misora. - L's eyes and hands for the L.A.BB murder case. He respects her enough to choose her for this case and ended up learning capoeria, a dancing kind of fighting style, because of her. Was mildly disappointed when she disappeared during the Kira investigation.
purgatorium.
good.
Nill. - The first new person he met in Purgatorium. He finds her frustrating at points but respects her honesty. He would use her if needed but he would also protect her if she was in danger. He occasionally enjoys speaking with her and likes her as much as L can like someone not on his level.
- Was there when Heine was killed on L's commission. Does not know of L's part at the moment. L feels very slight guilt over Nill's part but nothing more.
Treize. - His 'boss.' L respects Treize's orderly manner but sees him simply as a tool to an end.
Graham. - Another coworker. He actually likes Graham (again as much as L can like someone) after a conversation involving their mutual desire to win a large war, L against Kira and Graham against his enemy (I do not know the fandom to fill that in). He respects the fact that Graham shares this goal and genuinely enjoys speaking with the man. He could also be used in the future.
- After the incident at the jail L's vague like turned to something more genuine. He feels he owes Graham something, for carrying an unconscious L back and for getting into the mess in the first place, and plans on paying back that debt if possible. He is one of the few people L drops honorifics for.
Yin. - Another member of the prison incident crew. He found her useful during the fight as she pointed out enemies. Her concern and empathy during his and her own recovery from the event made him begin to like her in a sincere way. She is the first non-Wammy kid he has dropped the honorific for.
Lena. - Another member of the prison incident crew. He likes her in a vague way, and believes from conversations that she is more intelligent then one would initially give credit for.
Haruhi. - Another member of the prison incident crew. Another he has vague liking for from the incident. Also L enjoys poking fun at her occasionally for her strong response.
Setsuna. - Another member of the prison incident crew. Another he has vague liking for from the incident.
Christina. - Another from the prison incident crew. He did not get to know her well enough due to her death and she owes him cake <3.
South. - Another from the prison incident crew. Another he has vague liking for from the incident.
Hisoka. - Oddly enough L bonded with the boy. L believes his psychic ability could be useful one day but also enjoy's Hisoka's company in a sincere way as well. Hisoka reminds him faintly of the successors and L finds himself unconsciously going into a mentoring role when around the boy.
Joker. - Subject to a change from 'good' to 'bad' in an instant. L finds the man dangerous, volatile and senseless, a horrific combination. He also finds him incredibly interesting and entertaining. L believes he will cause trouble soon enough and plans to keep an eye on him. It is a 'playing with fire' situation.
Yuki. - A hacker he 'hired' from Haruhi. He is 90% certain she is not human. L finds her incredibly useful.
- Yuki helped save L from B and also helped with an important request. She has obviously risen greatly in L's book.
Sasori. - A fellow White Fang employee. They bonded slightly over how troublesome Mello could be. L is vaguely wary of him but enjoyed the conversations.
Valeria. - A coworker in the Sephiroth case and a cake buddy. They share a sweet tooth. L finds her intelligent enough and possibly useful.
Sister. - A girl who gave L cake twice three times. She was empathetic during a fairly hard time for L so L feels slightly indebted to her. Loud, slightly annoying but she is bearable to him.
Tucker. - L met him during a small fiasco involving Sister. Tucker thanked him for helping and L was blunt as usual.
- He gave L cake for helping Sister, now good in L's book.
Ren. - A 'DearS.' L scared off a small monster that was harassing her and was choosen to become her 'master.' At first L was irritated by the events but as time has passed he finds Ren more and more useful and interesting in her customs and quick learning ability. He has been teaching her things (reading, cooking, perhaps hacking) and, in a way, is beginning to see her as a fill in for the Watari position. If she ever wished to leave for her own freedom he would allow it and sees the 'slave' function simply as a mannerism of her race and accepts it if she does.
Mizore. - A new resident in their house. Not enough interaction to say but L finds her tolerable thus far.
neutral.
Zechs. - Treize's friend? A coworker. L doesn't feel anything particular about him besides being possibly useful in the future.
Heine. - A friend of Nill's. He meant nothing to L until he killed Mello. L had him killed in secret. He feels he and Heine are even now (one for one, an eye for an eye) and has no ill will towards him.
Tex. - A girl L hired to kill Heine. He believes she did an effienct job but he is cautious with the situation. She also gave him old shirts.
Tsuzuki. - Hisoka's partner. L is slightly distrusting of him but neutral otherwise.
HinaIchigo. - A doll L has met on occasion. He is curious over her but not much else at the moment.
Charlie. - The strange little boy who wanted to drink the blood from Mello's corpse. L is intrigued by what he is exactly but finds little use for him otherwise.
bad.
Sephiroth. - Along with Kadaj and all those involved with the random killings L is trying to catch them. Or get information for Treize at least.
Giovanni. - A very recent acquaintance who threatened him. Like many others he feels Giovanni could be useful in the future. He plans on keeping an eye on Giovanni from a distance.
- After having Heine killed Giovanni is now a great danger to L. Giovanni is unaware of L's part in the killing at the moment.
Muraki. - L has not met Muraki personally but he is wary of him after the Joker incident with Hisoka.
gods.
Thylas. - L does not like the gods, period. He has only personally met Thylas, who he hates of course, though he does not let it show so openly. He is very wary of the gods, goes along with their whims though he would rebel if given the chance and it was actually possible to succeed. He is currently working for Thylas in a sense, despite his dislike. Besides it is very unwise to deny a god.
Zhygure. - The servant god. L is entertained by his conversation in a way, though still very wary. He would describe Zhygure as whimsical, perhaps almost mischievous. He feels talking to Zhygure is like playing with fire - playing yes, some entertainment but it can quickly turn on you.
Hera. - L has not met her yet though he is faintly amused due to greek myth.
other.
Pikachu. - Crack event. L did not appreciate being shocked thank you very much. Pikachu still does not exist.
Other L. - Crack Event. A good conversationalist.
