CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS
✿ "Since you were chosen by Kyuubey, you have the chance to make any of your wishes come true. But in return, you risk your life." ▶ fellow Puella Magi; girls who gained fantastic powers as the result of a single granted desire, and paid for it by giving up their lives to fight abominations known as Witches. Being a magical girl is suffering a difficult and often lonely life, the nature of their magic making team-ups unusual; potential allies can easily end up being dangerous competition, as the chief interest of most magical girls is their own survival instead of heroics.
❤ "Will you be by my side?" ▶ a sincere bond; camaraderie, friendship, love (either platonic or romantic). This is a rare level of intimacy that's not easy to achieve, as Mami doesn't trust easily and keeps others at arms' length. If this sort of relationship is developed, Mami will give whatever she can to keep the other person safe and happy and by her side.
♡ "I'm not going to look lame in front of girls who're going to be my juniors!" ▶ warming up; this is a step above the usual polite-but-fake treatment. Mami is somewhat more open and genuine, and more prone to be protective over someone who's gotten her to defrost a little. Basically, despite the odds, a real connection is beginning to form.
✔ "If you make the wrong choice now, I'm sure you'll regret it later." ▶ worth pursuing further; for whatever multitude of varying reasons, Mami's interest- and maybe also her curiosity -is piqued. She'll be motivated to continue interacting with the other person in order to satisfy the feeling, trying to get to know them (or something they know) better.
♢ "I'm Mami Tomoe, a ninth-grader at Midakihara." ▶ default; being nice, but not exactly friendly. This is how Mami usually treats others- very politely and with the attitude of always being glad to help, yet secretly being careful to avoid forming a real attachment or allowing much of her real self to be seen. Most people will only know her as a patient, cheerful girl who rarely stops smiling.
✖ "I'm not trying to hurt you, but I can't promise that you won't get hurt." ▶ wariness; she doesn't trust you, and isn't sure if she wants to. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to worry about a fight, but it won't be hard to land in that category if a foot is placed out of line. Expect a lingering suspicion and occasional glimpses into the less carefree side to Mami's personality as she tries to figure you out.
☠ "What I really mean is I won't kill you this time." ▶ hostility; ranging from petty irritation, to fear, to intense hatred, this is the bottom tier of Mami's shit list. If you end up here, taunts and threats will likely be the norm of what communication is pursued. Furthermore, it's not going to be easy to improve your standing- she's a girl to hold grudges and is well-versed in bitterness. Best tread carefully around her depending on how greatly you're disliked, as she's blunted to death and violence and won't have any real qualms about using the former if she deems it warranted.
? "......" ▶ idk bro; either no real opinion has been formed yet, Mami knows there's more than what meets the eye, or the other person is just so baffling that Mami can't really wrap her head around why they do what they do.
