on Tom Waits

In recent times I haven't been moved by any music. Until just now as I'm listening to 2nd cd aka "Bawlers" from the pretty new Tom Waits box set titled "Orphans". Yo Artie,
Waits did a solid handful of those cuts from the new release live in Memphis. Anthony, Karen, my kiddo and I drove up there and stayed with Anthony's parents and went to the show. (Mike Higgins and his wife and other various NOLA peeps went also.) It was like an old Vox story spread over 2 days. Good times.
Happy Holidays,

"In recent times I haven't been moved by any music."

I feel that way sometimes, though the records that mean something mean A LOT.
I thought that my recent appreciation for "A Love Supreme" just meant I was turning into a dried-up oldster/ex-record collector. It sounds great though.

hahah no it doesn't sound cliche. i feel the same way. the timeless music to me will always mean a lot. yer recent appreciation for a "a love supreme" is similar to my recent fascination with ravi shankar and olatunji. perhaps to fullfill a need for something other than rock and roll. "i like things with guitars too." ha ha me too! will always love it! i just i have should have wrote how the nice boys album is one of my favorite rock records this year that i listen to a lot, it's just that the tom waits required more fine tuned listenening as i was pullled it in by it and not just checking it out while riding the train to work. we'll have to discuss the "ex-record collector" thing next time we're out. many times i thought i would rebuild my collection. now i just don't have the passion for it.
