Perl, PHP and RoR... Oh my!

I'm having a hard time figuring out which language(s) to do web programming with for my independent study. My project is basically creating a complete website for the Library Science student association that looks nice and is also functional.
I've been considering Perl, PHP, and Ruby on Rails. My professor/advisor is also learning Ruby on Rails ( Read more... )

Perl was created by a linguist, however, keep in mind that it isn't natively a web programming language. You've already done some of that and crossing that hurdle, so that's good ( ... )

By native, I meant it wasn't written originally for a focus on web programming. It is quite popular in that respect now, but you can just see from the fact that an introductory PHP book already has you doing things on the Web, while Learning Perl barely touches on it ( ... )
