So, I figured since I've made a few fly-by posts of late that I should try to do an actual heyya post.
I'm living in the dorms and going to school and working. I had a boyfriend for a little while but all those cute little quirks that I thought were kinda funny when I first met him just became annoying after a while.
I have a tv but the only tv I ever get a chance to watch is all online anyway so I pretty much use it to play Guitar Hero or watch one of the Discovery channels. TV online is totally the best thing ever. I'm currently watching True Blood, Dexter, House, Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sanctuary, Bones, and Fringe online and will pick up SGA when (if) I ever get to finish SGA season 4. Of course, if I watched that instead of the online stuff, I'd probably be through it by now, but whatever. I truly hope that scifi airs BSG when it comes back on otherwise I won't be able to see it because even though I have cable, it doesn't include SciFi. What kind of jacked up cable is that??!!
You can tell what I've been doing for the last little while since TV is on my brain. I'm on episode 10 of True Blood and it's very good. I like cable network shows because they tend to talk more like "real" people do. For example "Shut the fuck up!" when finding out something incredible instead of "Oh my goodness!" or whatever. I mean, I'm sure there are a lot of people that say that, but I'm more of a STFU girl. So maybe I just like True Blood because it's set in the south and the people talk more similar to me lol
Oh hell, I have no idea.
But language and dialects and accents and pronounciation and anatomy of our mouth and face and throat and ears and head and all that shit always seem to be on my mind because that's pretty much ALL I'm learning right now. I'm completely inundated with it. I like it, but most people just look at me when I say something like "Don't aspirate your mashed potatoes!" or "Stoopid epiglottis." or "Ebonics has properties of disordered speech, so is it really a dialect or a completely different language or just disordered speech that's been passed down through generations?" Yeah, I'm fun at dinner parties.
But I digress. And yes, those comments are funny and/or interesting if you're a Speech & Language Pathology major.
I'm very tired right now, I've only got 30 minutes left of work so I'm trying to stay awake for it and I have no class tomorrow so I fully plan to sleep in, as much as possible anyway.
I think my caboose of thought has been derailed so I will go back to watching True Blood. Just thought I'd say hi and stuff. :)
