Job Thoughts

As some of you may know, I currently work in a job that I did not go to school for. I also wouldn't prefer to end up as a graphical programmer (or whatever the hell my real job title should be; techinically it's "computer operator"). At any rate, I've been thinking for some time about what job would good for me.

My two degrees are in psychology and school psychology respectively; however, I realize now I could never deal with other people's problems all the time. First, I think that people make mountains out of molehills way too often and telling people to lighten up is not good therapeutic practice. Second, the politics of school psychology is not something I want to ever get close to; the idea of labeling kids as needing special ed for the rest of their school careers is not something I want to be responsible for.

I would, however, like to work at a job that allows me to do something good. This is amorphus for me; I personally would see running a comic book store doing something good but I digress. I've recently been looking at film preservation; preserving the early films I love so much for future generations to admire seems like a noble cause to me. Add to this the technical side that appeals to my... well, technical side and it actually seems like something fun. If I go to the University of Pittsburgh I could get a Master's of Information Science with a concentration in Moving Image Preservation in 3 semesters. Hmmm....
