Chloe Aisha Denver is an Archbishop William McKinley senior and the head of the White Rose family. She’s the daughter of Rick Denver and the late Aisha Jordan. Her father is a music producer who works closely with GOOD Music, but his success is only recent. Prior to being “discovered” for his contribution to Kanye West’s “All of The Lights” he was relatively unknown high school orchestra teacher moonlighting as a producer. He’s always been about hard work and doing what’s necessary to make things work for his family.
Chloe was born while he was a lauded twenty year-old Cellist studying music composition at Julliard. He was set to be the next big thing in the musical community, but the pregnancy of his high school sweetheart and her subsequent death from complications during birth put a hold on that dream. He dropped out with only a year left in his program and took up a number of odd jobs until Chloe was old enough for preschool. He went back to finish his program, but the buzz around him and his skill had already been long dead. He took to teaching orchestra for stability and moved their family to California. He moved the family to Las Vegas when Chloe was nine and a position at the Las Vegas Academy for The Performing Arts opened.
Rick hit mild and temporary success when Chloe was eleven and sent her to AWM with the royalties and after her first year pushed her to maintain a scholarship and continue to excel both academically and artistically in dance. It’s his hope that she reaches the success he missed out on.
Chloe is, to put it simply, intense. She’s been raised to work hard, never take no for an answer and earn everything. The absence of her mother and her father’s first missed window of success made her childhood interesting. Her father’s always been loving but he’s also pressured her to be nothing short of excellent. Because of this she has to be in control at all times. Anything that presents a problem or opposition brings out a side of her that’s not at all pleasant. She’s been dancing since she learned to walk and is extremely skilled in ballet, modern and hip-hop. She’s set to audition for Julliard in the fall. Her father’s recent success has bred a foreign and oft-defaulted to sense of entitlement.
When did you character start at AWM?
Chloe’s been a student at AWM since the sixth grade. She initially came in with her father paying, but has maintained an academic scholarship since his royalties ran out. His recent success didn’t come in until the school year had already started so she’s still working hard to maintain her scholarship and regardless of their current financial situation feels it her duty to keep up.
How does your character feel about The Roses and The Thornes?
Chloe takes the Roses (and the Thornes) very seriously. She was invited to join when she was of age. It was an invitation she had expected not because of entitlement but because of the hard work she’d put in for the three years before.
Once she’d learned of the Roses and their significance and prominence on campus she’d fought tooth and nail to make herself known. Her grades are impeccable and she’s a vision when she performs, but she still had to work hard to be selected as one of the final four. Her initiation took her through hell and back but in the end she still thinks it was all worth it. She flexes her power often and expects excellence from those around her. She sometimes has unrealistic expectations, but in the end, the Roses are her family and a significant part of her livelihood. This, however, doesn’t stop her attitude from getting in the way.
