Been there done that...although at one time, I had thought I wanted to be a nurse. Worked as a Nurse's Aide in Kansas for 6 years and that was enough to cure me of that desire. My dad passed 5 years ago. My then boyfriend, now husband, went home for his 74th birthday and surprised him. A month later, he and Mom took a trip to Florida to meet my oldest brother who was stationed in Bogata, Colombia and saw his granddaughter. They came home from that and Dad stopped eating. He kept asking my mom how a friend of her's dad had killed himself. On the 29th of April, he went into the hospital with arrhythmia, the 3rd of May, he went into a coma. On the 18th of May, we disconnected everything and he passed away on the 21st. I went home on the 11th of May and said hi and got a squeeze of my hand but that was the last reaction we had from him ( ... )

((( justtobeme2 )))

I understand the "tired" part and the desire to escape in corsets.

Hubby is legally blind (nearly fully blind), CHF, high bp, diabetes (I give the shots), on home dialysis (my "job"). I fix his meds and make sure he takes the, give him 2 shots a day and 3 on Saturday (epogen for his blood count). I am the only driver in the home and take him to all his appointments. daughter is due her 2nd baby any day now so I take her and the 18 month old to all their appointments. I have back problems and go Monday to have shots in my back in hopes of relieving the pain and to top off life, yesterday I ripped my left toenail 1/2 way off and will have to have it removed and I might have a broke toe.

Just remember that you are not alone, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers

Tori,
You are exactly right! I was having a pity party and you reminded me I am not the only one. Thank you. Yes we did the same dialysis system (epo and all). I'm not sure if you are interested in this or not but I'll share a little tidbit. You know those bags that the tubing comes in, the silver ones? Well if you have one of those seal a meal thingies you can pack anything you want in them and re-seal them..lol...Great for packing away clothes for next year or going camping or baby clothes for storage etc.

all my tubing is in clear plastic and not big ones either....hhhmmm

well maybe when things settle a little we will have to find a way to meet up and have our pity party together (you are still in the general area right?)

The tubing itself came in clear bags but the lot of about 12 came inside a big silver bag. I believe there were two of the silver ones to each "case". People can't imagine how much space doing tha type of dialysis takes up in your home.

Here's hoping they finally let him come home soon. Your family has been wrestling with this long enough. **hugs**
