Honestly, that's one of the reasons I knit (and crochet, and cross-stitch). So much of what we lawyers produce is ephemeral, not even paper anymore, just bits and bytes of arguments. Having something where I can say, "here's a thing I made with my hands" just brings me fulfillment in a way that legal work does not.

Crafts are wonderful, and, yes, a way to be in contact with a time when what we made had substance.

I can imagine it's lovely to use your hands and see something produced. Law is so ethereal and in many ways nonsensical.

I wouldn't mind going back to pre-mobile phones. At the time, my husband wanted me to get a pager, so that he could contact me at any time. I said no. I enjoyed my solitude, my being out of contact with everyone. It was glorious.

I long for the day when I'm not constantly on call. I love my kids but they don't realise what it was like in a pre-mobile world.

Unfortunately, I am opposite as I love technology... so I guess I'm a geeky nerd 😂
