Honestly, that's one of the reasons I knit (and crochet, and cross-stitch). So much of what we lawyers produce is ephemeral, not even paper anymore, just bits and bytes of arguments. Having something where I can say, "here's a thing I made with my hands" just brings me fulfillment in a way that legal work does not.
I wouldn't mind going back to pre-mobile phones. At the time, my husband wanted me to get a pager, so that he could contact me at any time. I said no. I enjoyed my solitude, my being out of contact with everyone. It was glorious.
