RP at the Ichiraku Ramen Bar at lunchtime

Jul 04, 2006 17:02

The morning at the academy had been hectic for Iruka-sensei - the kids were all full of the excitement of the festival and it was almost impossible to get them to settle down at all. Iruka felt mildly guilty for assigning four detentions in one hour but justified them with the fact that if some punishment hadn't been handed out then his sanity ( Read more... )

Kakashi strolled down the street with a hand in his pocket and the other holding his book. The incident with Sasuke was still on his mind as he tried to figure out what to do. He had eventually just made up his mind that it could just be nothing and he would just watch from afar for now.

The smell of food drifted to his senses and he suddenly felt his stomach rumbling. He looked up from his book and found the scent was coming from the Ramen bar and he decided that it couldn't hurt to step in for a bite to eat.

He slipped his book back into his pouch and push aside the strips of cloth, poking his head into the area before sitting down. He turned his head to the side to find Iruka-sensei, one of the academy teachers sitting across from him. He tried a polite approach, he didn't feel like anymore drama right now.

"Yo~!"

Iruka had nearly reached a decision, dithering between a choice of two, when he heard a familiar voice greet him. He knew who it was before he turned around; who else would say 'yo' to Iruka, after all? Come to think of it, who on earth said 'yo' at all? Apart from Kakashi-sensei, that was...

Looking over his shoulder to see that his assumption had been correct, Iruka smiled at the older man. "Hello, Kakashi-sensei," he greeted. "Here for lunch?" he added, somewhat redundantly. It wasn't like he was likely to be there for any other reason, he berated himself silently. What a stupid thing to say... well, there was no helping it now.

Kakashi's eyes smiled as he picked up a menu and scanned the items scribbled on it.

"Yeah, just was on my way home from helping an elderly lady with her shopping"

He would never know why he lied so much. Although it was amusing to see peoples reactions. He placed the menu down and looked up at the man with his hat on and his assistant who peered at him with interest. He knew why he didn't come here often - they always looked at him strangely.

"Pork Ramen please." He said quickly.

"Really?" Iruka asked, wavering on whether he should really believe that or not. Kakashi was notorious for lying, after all.. but then, he hadn't been reading that book of his when he'd come in, so perhaps he had been doing some sort of kind deed. "That was nice of you," he smiled, deciding that he should believe the jounin this time. There were a lot of old ladies doing shopping, perhaps one of them had needed something carried - It couldn't be a mission, surely? Such a high-ranking ninja would never get such an unimportant mission unless... maybe it was Tsudane's shopping.

That made sense. Glad to have resolved the issue, Iruka looked back at his menu. He sighed a little as Kakashi ordered so quickly, still dithering before finally settling on, "Miso pork Ramen, please," addressing the old man who nodded. It was Naruto's favourite and it always smelt so good.

That was logical, Iruka thought, feeling slightly reassured by Kakashi's lack of concern. He didn't really know Kurenai-san, so perhaps she always worried about things like this - and Anko-san was quite... well, it was safe to say he didn't really know her either.

"You're probably right," Iruka replied with a half-smile. The ANBU would be there, it was all fine. What was the worst that could happen, really? Just so long as it didn't rain then there was absolutely nothing to worry about. The place would be heaving with ninja.

Speaking of which... "Changing the subject," Iruka started with a slightly predatory gleam in his eye and a voice full of reproach. "You're late handing in your last mission report, Kakashi-san." Having got the man cornered, Iruka was going to make the most out of this lunch-hour.

Kakashi froze for a moment. The look in Irukas face changed and well... It scared him a little. Kakashi floundered for a bit and then gave into just sratching the back of his head nervously.

"Uh.."

Yeah, he was psyching himself up to run if it need be. Or maybe He would just lecture him. That seemed more likely. Uh, uh... Yes! He was going to play dumb!!

"... What mission?"

Iruka's eyes narrowed dangerously. It was a school day and it didn't take him long to snap back into full teacher-seeking-homework mode even at the weekends.

"The mission, Kakashi-san, that you came back from nearly three weeks ago. I'm sure you remember. Tsunade-sama is still waiting for the report." He'd already assigned four detentions today, he was sure he could fit another one in... it didn't matter if Kakashi was a student or not... "Do you have a reason for this?"

Kakashi blinked, his mind quickly thinking up a reason, any reason to give to Iruka...

"I was out doing community service outside of the villange and, uh, somehow got pulled into a secret mars penal colony where i gained the trust of the others and threw off the shackles of oppression... When i got home, i couldn't for the life of me find where i had put it. But i remembered that i had left it behind while on my trip"

Ohshit.

"I know, I know," Iruka groaned putting a hand over his eyes. "I think I have developed a masochistic streak, or have some bizarre repressed desire to be tormented by you for the rest of all time," he complained.

It wasn't his fault that he liked sewing. It was a useful thing to be able to do, though he was teaching himself to do embroidry at the moment and that wasn't really a practical skill. But the point was that, if he was on a mission and ripped his trousers, he would be able to mend them without hesitation. Not many ninja could claim to be able to do that.

"At any rate, I don't think many people would be that surprised," he pointed out.

Kakashi considered that. It was really true, Iruka really seems the type to get into things of that sort of nature. So maybe it was rather bogus blackmail material, although his students would probably find it amusing, yes there was some hope.

"True, but at this rate, i'll know your whole life before you know it. Then, i'll have some stories worth telling." Really, it was the little things that made life great.

Iruka laughed. "You probably know most of it as it is! I'm not that interesting, I'm afraid. I teach, I go home, sew a bit, read a bit and then go to bed. Not very interesting stories to tell," he grinned, sitting back on his stool. "Really, you ought to find yourself another victim who leads a life of scandal, not a quiet life like me."

Not that Iruka would subject Kakashi's twisted sense of humour on anyone. Surely no one could have been that evil in their pastlife to deserve such torment...

"I did have other victims. They were my students but now that they've outgrown the nest i've lost my source of amusement." He said a little dissapointed. He missed the days when he would always show up late and watch and guide them while they trained.

"And even the quiet have their secrets" Kakashi grinned almost evilly. Not that you could really tell all that well. But he was interested in what secrets Iruka had hidden away in his memory. It occured to him then that he should have joined the intellegence and torture force rather than being a regular Anbu.
