Kankuro sighed, grabbing a fistful of spiky brown locks in aggravation. The day had yet to begun completely, and he already felt the telltale beginnings of a migraine. Though at least he was dressed and prepared, weapons tucked in neatly here and there, for any unlikely threat that came their way.

Turning, the puppeteer met the eyes of the source of all his current agony, looking as thoughtful and indifferent as usual. Crossing his arms in a stubborn gesture, Kankuro moved away. “C’mon, we should leave soon.”

Temari opened the door to Kankuro's recently vacated room, spreading a horrible creaking noise that grew worse the further the door opened. What the hell? Suddenly a possibility dawned on her when a flashback appeared where she was pounding with her hands and feet against the door, trying to get her brother to open up. Whoops...I hope the Uchiha kid doesn't notice. Knowing it was a really obvious flaw, she shook her head. Or at least, won't mind. She closed the door, the creak not as painful of a sound as before, but still very disturbing. The blonde sighed and made her way to the bed, throwing herself onto it so that she faced the ceiling. She glanced over at her clothes for the day and a frown formed on her lips. I guess this is what you get when you don't act much like a girl. She rolled over and sat up, beginning to strip off her clothing. Maybe I can get something at some shop on the street.Temari slipped into a short, black robe that barely slipped past her bottom and proceeded to pull on a white skirt afterwards. ( ... )

Finally putting personal reservations aside, Gaara began to strip, unconcerned with his state of privacy; a body was a body. It seemed that he was still alone long enough to have changed attire completely. Now he stood, immediately recognizable as Kazekage of Sunagakure, clad in his formal robes, though the hat was still lying upon the bed. In the end, his robes had won out the staring contest, since he had to admit defeat by wearing them, as was required.

Exiting his room with his hat in hand, Gaara silently approached his sister. He kept his eyes fixed straight ahead of him, as if he were too focused on something else. Once he had taken a single step past Temari, the red head stopped, not turning to face her, but directing his attention toward her. "Keep your eyes open. Make sure Kankuro knows, too."

The blonde's attention snapped up immediately at the sound of the door opening, and caught sight of her red-headed brother who simply walked past her, ordering her to stay alert. She nodded, acknowledging his words and nodded to her other sibling, Kankuro, concern apparent on her face. She stepped towards Kankuro and looked him straight in the eye. She was serious, but not to the point of bitchiness like usual. Temari was concerned out of her mind for Gaara, and everyone around her could feel the tension caused by the extreme amount of stress she was going through. "Kankuro..." She kept her voice low, almost a whisper, so that Gaara wouldn't hear them. "promise me this..." A lump formed in Temari's throat, but she fought past it with a sigh. "If anyone tries to harm our brother..." Her grip tightened slighly on his shoulder, dipping her head down slowly. "...I want you to take him to a safe place as quick as possible." She glanced behind her, making sure Gaara wasn't catching a single word of their conversation. "No

At his sister's words, Kankurou swallowed any form of disagreements and sharp retorts. The look that she was giving him wasn't the hot-tempered and annoyed expression Temari usually reserved just for him, but was much more hardened and serious. And Temari only ever showed such an emotion when caught up in the depths of a battle, or when faced with danger. So this was certainly an important matter ( ... )

Temari glanced over at Gaara, then looked back over to Kankuro, her expression becoming overwhelmed by a shadow of uncertainty and confusion. "I...don't really know. I have this overwhelming feeling of dread that I feel whenever I'm around Gaara." She quickly lowered her voice continuing, "And I don't mean about that, although I feel it does have something to do with it." By that, Temari had obviously meant the monster that lurked inside of their sibling, causing so much trouble and pain for him throughout his entire life. The fact that people may be after Gaara to kill him for his mere existence troubled her greatly, but she felt that there was something much more, involving the creature inside of him. No matter how much she feared the demon that it would make Gaara become, she still loved her brother, and knew that Kankuro cared just as much, even though he never expressed it to anyone. "I think something's out to get him..." She grunted this, in annoyance and anger. "Do you understand now?"
