Rather exactly two years ago I left on a sick leave for 11 months due to depression, burnout, generalised anxiety, and stuff. About 13 months ago I returned to work full-time.

This summer vacation I never managed to get to the point where the vacation begins to give benefits. This autumn the normal worklife stresses have slowly been accumulating, ( Read more... )

There was a time when that difference in years would have seemed an impassable chasm. It still is a lifetime, but as a fraction of my present age, much lesser a separation.

I've been working for the last few weeks- unpacking the computers that came over from Germany at the Computer History Museum. I'm getting paid, but working more days than I thought I would. One of the women I 'm working with is a paranoid bitch (to put it tactfully.) She accused me of trying to get the volunteers on my side, against her. Good grief, grow up, lady! Plus taking two classes at San Francisco State University - I'm going for a Masters in Museum Studies. Exhausted isn't the word for it. Almost every week has 6 days booked ( ... )

My unexpected break lasted almost 2 years. I needed every minute. This is the second time it's taken me 2 years to recover from - whatever it is. I didn't really feel depressed - just worn out. Don't put recovery on a time-clock: you'll know when you're ready. Glad my long-windedness served some purpose.

Oh, and honoured M'liss, I am not actively ignoring you. I seem to have misplaced some of my mailbox passwords, and after the reinstallation LONG time ago I haven't been looking at the former "main" account at all.
