I need a skill.

I want a specific skill that I can devote my time to and enjoy myself doing it. A hobby of some sort. Most of the people I know, have some clear thing they like and use time to, for example one of my friends is really into photographing. It would be so relaxing to know that you always have something that you can turn onto, if you want to pass time ( Read more... )

Just because you're not good at something doesn't mean that you can't do it as a hobby. Having a hobby is about enjoyment, not talent. I can't sing for shit, but it doesn't stop me singing alllllll the time. You need to stop thinking about it so hard and just do something that feels right and you enjoy.

Or knit Vince a spare sock, as suggested.

You sound like me. I've got no attention span though. I've tried loads of things and got bored and moved on and ended up just being an internet nerrrd. But yeah, just try new things.. Try cooking, I'd love to be able to cook.

I guess Muse board can be counted as a hobby by now, but it's just an another form of socializing.

Aye, having a hobby is about enjoyment, but I guess it's a part of my nature to always strive for improvement. Usually if I'm interested in something, I do it so much, that I become good at it. I devote myself to my interests quite literally, so skill comes "naturally". Maybe it is my faulty mentality that keeps me away from so called casual hobbies. Either there's no room for improvement (read: I need goals to go for) or they seem impossible for me.

Reading is the only thing that comes even close what I am looking for. It is something that I can lose myself into and just enjoy it with no intention to become better at it. It's not enough though and is still too close to my other interests.

Gemsy, that' actually a quite good suggestion, since I've always enjoyed cooking. I don't know, if it is such a hobby I can lose myself into, but it just might. It does requires constant use of money though.

Maybe I'll just knit that (half a) sock
