how does he judge contentment - with the shine on his car or the shine in his eyes?
you call these enemies your friends, and they drag you down, while they thrive on your soul
if you call that happiness, you'd best be gone, never to return

you fought for what you wanted, but forgot all about peace
what will you do when your fire's out? when will the cold war cease?

doing what's right for others is not always right for you
what is true for others is not always true for you
i have watched you tumble, i have watched you fall
so i'm speaking out before you lose it all

what makes you a man these days - the strength of your will or the power of creativity?
how do you judge contentment - with the time you've wasted or the time you've gained?
look back on what made you strong and what made you want to die
tell me, what do you have now, when you look inside?

those you've burned have risen to heights stronger than before
