my parents are like that too. in fact all my relatives are like that..mine would disown me ( seriously ) if i were to get pregnant before i got married.

i'm sure 90% of the parents in our parents generation are like that - asians have this huge image syndrome where they need approval from others (friends/family) etc... they feel if their children do something out of the norm, well then society will blame them for being "bad" or "irresponsible" parents.

Hah, reading this post was a bit funny for me because, for me, been there & done that in your cousin's role. (Though in my case, my parents vehemently objected to my choice of partner, but we got engaged anyway, then along came baby, and it snowballed from there...)

It's great that you're there for her. I know it meant a lot to me to have the support of my extended family (even if none of them live anywhere close to me...)

well i hope everything is ok now with you and your family. initally it can be a huge shock but after all is said and done, what can you really do right but accept, support and move on the best you can.

i just wish i knew earlier so i could be there for her. *sigh*

wow awww. i would feel angry too if i were you. so is that why they moved to california in the first place?

i'm so lucky to have parents and family who aren't strict and traditional like that. i'm having a baby out of wedlock and they couldn't be happier for me! lol at least ur cousin and her baby is ok, maybe u can visit them one day after u have ur baby ;)

you are very lucky to have supportive parents and a family!!! she originally went to cali for work and met the guy there, i'm so happy for her and i can't wait to see her and her new baby!
