Wind energy is nifty. Unfortunately, there's no good place to generate wind power close to major metropolitan areas...

The East and West seaboard is actually a prime spot, particularly for combined wind and sea.

Geographically, they're wonderful. Unfortunately, they're inhabited by people who have spent large sums of money for beachfront/beachview property, many of whom will spend smaller (but still significant) sums of money to make sure they don't end up looking at windmills in the distance.

Other down side of east-coast construction: It periodically gets hit by hurricanes.
