Can talking to stupid people lower your intelligence?

I seem to be going through a bout of becoming overly irritable when dealing with idiots. All I want to do at work is log into our system, start answering calls, tell people to go to hell when they're being stupid, and hit the release button on the phone. At least the girl who would ask me the same question everyday finally switch to a different

Heheheh. I remember getting to that point while working at the hotel.

And ew, I would definitely not want anyone whose business was plumbing handling my food. I won't even ask how someone calling a plumbing company to order Chinese food wound up pestering you.

It's not that anybody actually called a plumbing place and tried to order chinese food. I'm just getting sick of idiots calling in, listening to the automated system which tells them which company they are calling, getting through to a representative who starts the call off by repeating the company name, and then they still think they are calling a different company. I've gotten idiots thinking I was with Dell, Dishnetwork, some internet service provider, and some philly cheesesteak place in New York. Granted, the lady trying to place a food order was heavily doped up on painkillers since she had just gotten out of the hospital, so she had a decent excuse.

I don't think talking to stupid people will lower your intelligence (much), but it makes you simultaneously grateful you have it and scornful of those who don't. The latter can be a bit dangerous but mostly if you get fired. :)

Btw, I asked for your input on my latest entry about influential short stories.

Oh, and my videos from India work now! I think one of the Vista updates fixed the problem because they started working after the second or third time I connected to the Internet (I went the first several weeks without ever connecting my laptop to the Web) and the updates install automatically. Joy. Anyway, they work!
