When it was good, baby, it was real good... TNF suspended indefinitely.

I don't even know how to begin to write this document, let alone use it as a necessary forum to convey the grave news that has reached home. Even the uninvolved reader of this journal could deduce that something has been amiss recently among the TNF institution and its archons, so I don't think this announcement can possibly be construed as a total ( Read more... )

Well, I too am sad. But I understand how wanting too much can be a real killer--I think a lot of our problems could be erased if we'd all just realize how it's good to be finite. I'm not God, I can't do everything, and the most wonderful thing is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. So: in view of the fact that running the Fites was getting unhealthy for you, I applaud and celebrate your decision to put them on hold. Rock on!
And thanks so much for the compliments. They mean a whole lot to me.

Jack-o,

As always, you've said a mouthful. And I meant what I said. Thanks for understanding.

When I return to Washington College on the 19th, please tell me whether my ego is visible to the naked eye from Annapolis. If so, something will have to be done about that.

G--

The idea most certainly occurred to us, and in fact was one of the first suggested remedies. What's stopping us is just guilt. It's a lot of work, and I would feel bad forcing it upon anyone else. And it seems it'd have to be ALL or most of the duties. However, if someone(s) come to me with the will, a plan, and the time, I would certainly be open to that idea.

Also, the cookies sound great, and if they're anything like the brownies of weeks past, I'd love to sample them.

As a three-time voter and largely an outsider to the Fites, I don't appreciate much of what you're feeling. But I do know what it's like to say goodbye to something (almost someone, as you put it) one loves so dearly. Keep the hands open, and love what flows into them, and love what leaves them.

Whenever I see those initials, I think:
"My name is Jonathan David Coppadge...alternately known as the JDC! And I'm...a Coppadge! I'm coming to your house!" (Crash) "Oh...I knocked over...the thing!"
(See message #2 to understand exactly what I'm talking about...)

Sorry to hear about the fites. Middlemarch does take forever to read. Good luck with time management. I don't think Junior year is the easiest year for that. And speaking of which, I should get offline and finish some homework.
