&^%^$%#%% Norton

Dec 06, 2008 00:36

I've been off line for 5 days.  I loaded Norton onto my computer and it caused a major "critical" error. I ended up with it in the shop for 4 days and just got back on line Friday night.  The repair shop said to use AVG. Sigh. At least BB gave me back my money for the program.

You know you're not supposed to say naughty words like NORTON here!! *evil grin*

Seriously they were right to say... DITCH NORTON.. I went and installed AVAST... www.avast.com

It's FREE and it doesn't screw up your PC!

AVG is a free one as well. I have a few friends that have it and love it. I've just gotten used to using N**** for all these years and never left it until now. Never again.

For their minimum price, the gave the computer a tune-up and gave me a few new programs to speed things along. I'll have to see how they work. It was an expensive lesson to learn. Around here the price for them to simply look at the computer is $80.00. I'd bought the N**** on sale and thought I'd done some good for the old pocket book, but it ended up costing me a lot more than the original purchase price. Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain.

I got a shock in the comics today, not where you'd expect to get it. One of the daily funnies called "Sally Forth" noted that there are only 19 more days until Christmas. I'm not ready!

I think I'll go read some fanfic. That will accomplish a lot. haha.

I bought a 2-year subscription for Norton 360. I got so fed up with it screwing up my PC (and the kids and my old laptop as it's a multi-PC license!), making EVERYTHING run like an arthritic hamster on a broken wheel that I cut my losses and ditched it within 3 months... $85 down the drain!

I picked up AVAST as I couldn't afford to go out and buy another virus checker.

As for Xmas - fortunately, I've already got most of my prezzies bought! All that's left is to figure out the arrangements for various events taking place between now and then!

Gah, Norton! It came with my computer, and I used it for a while, then changed over to AVG because Norton was such a hog. It was such a pig, it wouldn't even uninstall without a fight--I still have one piece of it I CANNOT get rid of (but fortunately, it doesn't seem to do anything other than take up a bit of hard drive space, since I've deleted the rest of it).

I will not be using Norton again, even if it comes free. Sheesh.

I'm glad you got your computer back, even if it did take expert help to get it back online!
