no probs galen. i chose simple minds because they are a very gaelic band. coming into existence around the same time as U2, they developed along a different musical path. everyone knows their big hit song "Don't you forget about me", but my favourite album of theirs is New Gold Dream (which was the "living" soundtrack to my converting from catholicism to buddhism when i was in my mid teens). simple minds are a celtic christian rock band, whose christianity is not immediately apparant(unless you listen to tracks like Book of Brilliant Things and Sanctify Yourself

Learn something new every day :) I hadn't known they were Gaelic. I knew some of their stuff, including of course "Don't you forget about me".
i liked your include of your thoughts on Let it all come down- it ended up a quite appropriate track eh:)
*Grins* I thought you might. I was listening to that song and felt it really fit with the surrender to Lleu, giving some kind of reason why someone like Liam would turn from warring with this presence to accepting it.
The last little touch was both the end cycle of his submission to the situation, but also a little smiling nod to the Room AoA session which those of us there would hopefully appreciate ;)
The gaelic songs are from an album called the Seven Steps to Mercy, by some guy with a wacky welsh name with too many syllables for my liking.Which describes pretty much anything in Welsh, really, barring a few exceptions :p

I've found bands like Clannad and other bands/artists less well known to have been ones listened strongly to whilst discovering my own spirituality.
As mentioned, music is something that impacts me strongly on an emotional and memory level. I remember sitting under Ankerwyke (believed by some to be a physical representation of Yggdrasil, the World Tree) with the smells of damn earth and forest surrounding me, snippets of remembered songs flittering through my memory, strands of Clannad's Gaelic works and their ilk.
More likely I was not being forced to concentrate on the action and so could just listen and enjoy the music. When I get a chance I will come around and collect the cd from you and listen to it properly.
no probs mate. perhaps you can choose some music that you think inspires images of Eduard and his history in yoru head and post the music titles for me?
It looks like the Eurythmics were a focus for Dillon. I know it was hard for you, because you focused on the eighties. I think it would have been easier for you if you hadn't. I like many different types of music. You know you are going to force me to look up some of the songs that weren't in English, so I can figure out some more about my character. As far as additional songs, with and Eighties focus there is a little not well know song from the Ghostbusters Sound Track that is called "Magic" or "I believe its Magic". It has both a sexual connotation and mystical one. I can understand the problem with Rock. They can be a bit distracting during a game. There are a couple of songs that are part of the Rock genre that are perfect for Dillon. I will have a think and see if I can think of any others. Thank you for your work on the Music. It shows a lot of thought went into it. I would also think that Rap and Hip-Hop would have the same problem.
yes, well the eurythmics focus was very deliberate as you say. they have an album (184 For the love of Big Brother) which is going to be the soundtrack to the Invisibles (College). :)
I actually intend to develop your soundtrack down different paths, reflecting the whole Leonus, Osiris/ Baldr etc etc thing.
when you play a Room Aoa next, i will run the current soundtracks through and show you how it constructs some interesting scenes.
as for Rap hip hop - it can work if its in french - as we saw with Eduards soundtrack.
I quite like that "Magic" song from Ghostbusters. If I recall it happens not long after the Gatekeeper and the Keymaster have sex, and the containment unit at the HQ explodes, flooding New York with spiritual energy.
I can't comment whether it fits for Dillion/Osiris, not knowing all the twists of the character as you and Jyan do.
Love will tear us apartjyancraigMay 16 2005, 08:23:42 UTC
well, benj you can be certain of a few things - one is that i am older than you. i was 11 when the song was in the charts. i remember it. love will tear us apart became a kind of teen angst anthem for a while in the early eighties (much like smells like teen spirit in the nineties). when philippa and i saw it used as a teen angst song in the film series 7 we both looked at each other and laughed - we both knew how tragically true it was

well the band for the first few tracks is Curve, and if they produced any album but Doppelganger i want a copy! I took a risk using rock for Kurt because i think Kurt pictures himself as tough, rugged, and an action guy - kinda like how Bruce Willis arrogantly knows he's the action star of the movie. Then i used Sheila Chandra for other tracks. I felt she captured a feeling for Seth, that would be different to the other ancient egyptian nephilim. She is a magnicfent vocalist. At first i was goig to use Sisters of Mercy (with Ofra!) for Kurt, but i was worried t would be too muh like a white wolf feel to his background. Although,i may still use it elsewhere. Have a isten to the Sisters of Mercy track "More" and tell me if you think its suits Kurt/Seth.
