Really, just a very, very cool weekend.  Nothing crazy or flashy or even unusual, but extremely enjoyable nonetheless.  We were visited by viking_cat , kid_cthulhu and their dogs.  KC and Finn had an event down in southern Jersey, so she left early Saturday morning and Poor VC and Tess were stuck with us.  There was much walking, talking, eating (deep fried bacon, ( Read more... )

Actually, she was a warlock!

It's funny, I hadn't caught his annoyance about two barbarians. I totally would have played a dragonborn paladin ("but which of the four builds?!?") instead. Ahem.

The module design was both great (major bonus points for delivering a baby in combat and some opportunities for good roleplaying in the first part of the game) and lazy (inconsistent plot, poorly explained plot, unimaginative fight locations.) The latter doesn't matter, as I had a blast. It was nice being able to make a suboptimal attack (bludgeoning a foe with another foe) without feeling like I was letting everyone down.

I was thinking yesterday about how tactically unsound it was to have poor little Thurg go rushing across the room to assist in the birth, but to be honest there was no other possible action in my mind but that one. Having an insanely high heal skill helped, but I agree I love the cinematic aspect of spells whizzing back and forth over her head as she tried to help (and growls at the bad guy when not casting aid spells).

I would love to guest her in one of your campaigns. Move the whole lot of you down here, okay?
