You know the worst part? He believed it, and so did she. Can you imagine their conversation if it ever happened to a daughter of theirs? :(

We can hope that if they did have a daughter, she was the rebellious sort. I kept telling myself, after they left, that they were just products of their culture and generation but it was still pretty jarring.

And while it is easy to get wrapped up in how you want to smash their heads in, we should remember that we're lucky to have enough heart and common sense to at least realize we aren't them.

And that is something to be thankful for.

Ain't they just? Fortunately, I rarely get angry at people like that. More often than not I either feel pity or amused. Sometimes I feel annoyed at the folks who call us panhandlers or accuse us of harassment but those sorts usually do it on the fly, so as to avoid actually hearing the truth.
