Orientation

Aug 19, 2009 21:32

Today was the first day of orientation. It was mostly boring, but it's the official beginning of my new career. I'm pretty stoked.

Congrats! Hang in there. I think school isn't quite as much fun as you approach 30, but it's totally worth it.

You know, I've actually had more fun this semester than I did at Tulane.

So, now that you are almost done with your 1st semester, what classes do you wish you would have taken before going through the program?

I wish I'd had a bit more biochem, but really, this first semester has been pretty easy. If I can manage to do well on my finals, I've got a good chance at a 4.0. The only class I'm remotely worried about is what we call pharmaceutics, which is our somewhat intro class that covers dosage forms and serves as a primer for later classes like kinetics. If I can pull a 91 on the final, I'll have my A.

Hi! lacunarity pointed me here, since I just got rejected from JET. I wanted to ask how you've found the GEOS program so far? I'm looking into alternatives and I don't really know what programs are reputable or not.

I'm not sure if GEOS is still hiring, mainly due to the Eikaiwa shrinkage in Japan. If they are still hiring, it is definitely a reputable company. AEON is another company, and in fact, GEOS and AEON used to be the same company.

You can email me at jyoudan dot sensei at gmail. I'd be happy to talk to you a bit more, kind of help you out.

If you want to go to Japan, I'll do everything I can to help. Just don't give up. Being rejected by JET isn't the end. Trust me.

Hey Jordan! It's been forever since I've seen you and I have April break coming up soon. Do you want to get together for some of it? I don't know what your school and work schedule is like, but my break is April 10-18.

Sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you. I've been slammed with tests and I hadn't had a chance to see what Caroline's schedule was like.

That's actually a pretty good week for me, but I'll still have class, and I can't miss them. What do you have in mind? I'd love to see you again.

I figured I could fly down for half a week or so, we could catch up, play videogames, if I can get a weekend included in it we could go on an outing somewhere. You know. Stuff.

Any dates work best for you? I have no obligations from Friday night to next Sunday afternoon.

well... my schedule is like this

Mon: 12-3
Tues: 8-5
Wed: 12-5
Thurs: 12-3
Friday 9-3

And the weekends are what they are. Exams are on friday, so later days count more, if that makes sense. Probably the earlier in the week works best. I'd pick you up on friday and we'd have the weekend and a bit later into the week? Something like that sound ok?
