Happy early Valentine's Day to you, too! I'm glad to hear Clamp isn't sucking any longer; between Blood-C and the ending of xxxHolic, I was a bit concerned. It may almost motivate me to pick up the reboot of Legal Drug that's going on, since I always wanted to know how that ended. I've also heard that Merlin is a great deal of fun, but one of my fellow Arthurian nuts who watches it told me it'd be better for me to avoid it since I'm sort of a stickler to the general roles. I was a big nerd who wanted to do the Oxbridge thing and write papers on the lore, even.

I'm sorry to hear that your little girl has such severe allergies, but if she's young, it's possible for her to grow out of them. One of my good friends (the Arthurian nut) knows a couple whose daughter has the same drastic amount, and hers keep shifting. Best of luck in finding a healthy list for all of you to work with. Hopefully Todd gets out of your hair soon, too.

Well I think that I'm not so much a stickler for the roles.. if only because I tended to hate Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot (and oh Shu, Shu hates Lancelot.. like nobodies business) but I slowly got into the character of Arthur as portrayed through the series. Granted I know what's supposed to happen and things have NOT been shaping up that way.. but you know what, I'll take Arthur's temperment, definitely.

And oh I hope she gets over her food allergies too. She does seem to be fluctuating quite a bit. -_-

Yeah, that's why I had to say 'roles' versus 'canon', because Arthurian canon has always been fast and loose (although most do try keep to the very basics), but even then, it really depends on whatever you're reading. I don't own all the iterations ever, but some of my favorite versions have been the T.H. White ones, especially in The Once and Future King. On the other hand, I HATE the Mists of Avalon trio. My favorite Arthur figure is a kid named Bran, though. He's awesome and snarky and Welsh.

Mercedes Lackey also did a Guinevere story that started okay and with an awesome Gwen, but she's kind of going uneven in her old age, so it ended pretty crappily and without much build-up. Maybe that's Clamp's problem, too :|
