Why did everyone tell me Zack and Wiki (for the Wii) was so good? I was under the impression it was some sort of really good adventure game that happened to be for the Wii. That's a lie. It's a SHITTY adventure game that's for the Wii. I ended up liking the art style more than I thought I would (although I had to turn the sound off eventually. The ( Read more... )

I played it as long as it stayed easy-enough fun. Didn't even get near the end, but I did get my money's worth.

And if there are better adventure games being produced now, they sure aren't putting food on anyone's table.

Damn Sierra. I wish Lucasarts had gotten the edge over Sierra many many years ago, I imagine the game scene would look quite a bit different now :(

I've got that game. Someday I'll play it.

The problem is that it's not an adventure game at all! It's a puzzle game, like those GROW things from eyemaze.

Even if I had lowered my expectations beforehand, I still would have been disappointed. I'm on the second map screen, and I don't think I've ever looked forward to playing a new level yet.

You might want to make sure the accelerometer in your wiimote is okay. I had one that wouldn't detect fine motion, or it would register it when it wasn't there. In Wii Sports golf and especially Tiger Woods PGA Tour, putting is a good test for this.

(Good thing there's still Sam & Max keeping the corpse of adventure games shambling around!)

I didn't have a problem with the controls not working, but the timing can be pretty unforgiving sometimes. It's definitely a game where you have to be okay with replaying levels over and over until you get it right, and nowadays I think we have lost patience with things like that. A better checkpoint system during the level would have been nice.

Overall, I think it's good enough that it deserved more attention-- it didn't sell well at all here and I think a lot of it is because gamers who are our age are frequently unwilling to play anything that isn't brooding and violent.
