PBS' The Great American Read

Last night, PBS aired the launch special for their The Great American Read initiative. Throughout the summer, PBS is asking Americans to vote for their favorite book from a list of one hundred titles, culled from a survey of people across the country. Lists like this both fascinate and puzzle and frustrate (puzzle and frustrate are a single part of the concept of both against facinate). Your short list is more high brow (meant as a complement) than the populist NPR list. Wish there was time to actually discuss.

I wish I could qualify as a high brow reader! Haha. I would love to know how some of these books ended up on the list. One of the titles - I think it was Mind Invaders by Dave Hunt but I'm not 100% sure on that - was out of print so I'm really surprised they included it. I mean, if the purpose of the list was to get folks to read books adding one that isn't easily available seems like a poor choice...
