some weeks ago i've seen a movie who spoke about russian mafia tattoos ("Eastern Promises"), and then i've read something about them ,the star tip as an year on prison..but
all i've searched was more or less too much superficial.

There are thousand of value and rules in russian prison tattoo
About Stars - people which have this tatto on shoulders or kness are called "thief on law". This is highest rank in hierarchy of thieves.
And about each year in prison. tattoo - cathedral. Each dome of a cathedral - year on prison.

freakin awesome. i saw few days ago illustrated book named something like "Photoguide to tattoo's". uph, i found in so much interesting stuff. there are live history of tattoo in photo's from 19th century to our time. awesome, simply awesome. but day after, when i came to bookshop to grab that book some bastard do it before me! damn it was close

wow, i'm glad you enjoy it! cause this images...mmm very specific, i think. but you're right all the works by Pieter Hugo have something biblic and some of them really blows my mind few days ago, like:
