Oh God, why?

Ever read through some of your earliest fanfic and just cringe at the writing quality?

I've been doing that for most of today :P can't decide whether to rewrite, take them down, or leave them up there as a tribute to how much my writing has improved lol

God, I know. It's horrid. But most of the time I manage to keep myself from editing them. It's useful to see how far you've come.

Yeah, also I do tend to get frustrated when my fave authors/artists take down/change their old work. I'm just gonna comfort myself with knowing that someone enjoyed it at one point, so it can't be truly terrible lol

In the meantime, I need to organize my fic and include my other fandoms (especially Garak/Bashir, who never made it onto my LJ!)

Leave them up! No matter how cringe-worthy you may find them, chances are other people enjoyed those fics and would be sad to see them gone. Also, they are great as a measuring stick of how much you've improved.

Yeah, the one thing I do like about it is noticing how much I've improved - especially coz fanfic was actually how I improved as a writer, which is why I now do it professionally!

YES! I have thought on and off about archiving on AO3, but haven't done so as much of my past work makes me cringe. But you know what, I had such a blast writing this stuff, and getting into fandom and meeting people - it was all worth it. :)

Yeah thats one reason I wanna leave it up - sometimes I don't even read the fic when I'm re-reading, I just flick through the comments and smile at all the nice comments, and be happy that I got to know so many awesome people through fandom
