Flying for Fun!

Dec 09, 2007 16:19

That's right, folks! I've recently become quite addicted to the Flying RPG known as Fly for Fun, or Flyff. And so, I thought, what better way to share this wonderful game with you than a picture post?

Landis and Kaori

Let's start things off with my first character, Kaori, and her friend Landis. Kaori, of course, is a magician, and like every other female magician in Flyff, wears pointy hats and short skirts:

I kinda like that outfit, but you'll see one later that I like better.

Anyways, not too long ago I figured out how to change to first-person view and how to take screenshots in-game. After I'd taken a sufficiently excessive amount of screenshots of myself, Landis showed up! So of course, I had to take a picture:

Heather said in her LJ that he looks like a medieval postman. I might be inclined to agree, but I feel it necessary to add that he must be a magic medieval postman, because not long afterwards, he started GLOWING!

We're still not sure how that happened. And even weirder is the fact that this didn't show up on Heather's screen at all, only mine. How odd.

After more screenshot fun, I remembered that I'd accidentally happened upon a really creepy place. I told Heather about it and she wanted to see too, so off we went, exploring the creepy place that turned out to be a dungeon:

(I told you it was creepy.)

Eventually we got tired of running around, so we sat down to rest.

Lovely place, isn't it? It even has these wonderful evil mutant flower things that like to attack explorers. Stupid aggro mutant flower things (they're actually called ferferns, but I think the name "mutant flower things" fits much better).

Eventually, a resting period turned into a mini photoshoot/chat session there in the middle of the dungeon.

This picture amuses me because it ended up looking like Kaori is whacking Landis upside the head with her staff.

Poor Landis.

More picture-taking:

Landis is amused:

Looking very dynamic:

Landis is glowing again!

Because we are an awesome combination of PWN and Win, Landis and Kaori got a special party name:

Then Kaori leveled up and got new armor. Woot.

Isn't she adorable?

Yume, Calico, Tate, and Kierra

Kierra says hello! This was back when I first created her, so she was still a vagrant at the time:

To infiniti.... and beyond!

These random magicians kept running around the place where I was waiting for a certain quest item to spawn, so I tried to take a picture. They didn't wanna turn around, though:

When they finally did, the result was really freaky-looking:

It's coming to eat me! O_O

Random jumping. Not really sure why I took this XD:

For Heather:

I'm on a pile of boxen! (No, you are not supposed to understand that if you're not Heather, so don't worry about it)

While running around and leveling up and such, I came upon some princess person gazing out over the river. Just the way her name and her pose matched up really jumped out at me.

Apparently Flyff characters are amphibious:

Not really sure how I wound up here:

I became a Mercenary! They're your standard sword-swinging warrior class on Flyff:

One of the more interesting things about Flyff is that you can't pick a class until you're level 15, and even then you have to do a series of quests to earn your way into that particular job. It's actually pretty fun, even though leveling to 15 can get really tedious after you've had more than one character.

After awhile, Santa showed up! So many people were gathered around that I couldn't get a decent shot:

Dia has good taste in character designs. XD We're twins!

We use teamwork to take down more difficult monsters.

The whole group! My egg's name is getting in the way of Mosh's character, though. Boo.

After Heather had to leave, the rest of us decided to head into town, but I fell off the bridge and into the river below. o_< Thankfully, my teammates came back for me:

Thank goodness Flyff characters are amphibious:

Then we had to travel along a perilous precipice!

I found a cool place to sit! Not really sure why I'm floating, though.

Fearless Party Leader Heather takes us across some mountainous terrain:

Following the leader, the leader, the leader...

Looking very stoic here in this close-up profile. I love how the female Mercenaries get tattoos as part of their armor. It makes me look all tough and.... stuff. XD

Me with my egg. Many people were jealous because I got the lil guy for free. I was just in the right place at the right time. :P

Another group shot!

Miscellaneous Miscellany

As many of you are well aware, MMOs feature a chat window as part of the interface, so users can communicate. This CBox, as I call it, is quite useful - and also can play host to some very interesting occurrences. Thankfully, I've been able to catch some of these in screencaps:

I'm pretty sure kicking people isn't one of the provided character animations...

Another one for Heather. You really wouldn't get this unless you're familiar with my standard cast of characters, so don't worry about it. It made me laugh quite a bit, though:

Noobed up?

While running my private shop, I noticed that someone was quite enthusiastic about a new mustache they'd received as part of the special event quest currently going on:

This went on and on for quite some time, until everyone got fed up:

No more "mustash" messages after that.

Uhhh. Yeah. o_______O
Orange sky...

... and yellow snow:

At one point, one of my characters' blonde hair also turned green. Lighting effects can get a bit wonky at times, in Flyff.

And, of course, there's Flying!

Say cheese, Landis!

Occasionally you'll enter a new area and the name will pop up onscreen.

Oh, really? I was looking for Mr. Asparagus...

One time, while trying to meet up with Heather, I found a random freaky glowy thing:

I think the speech bubble says it all:

On the ground, standing on the random freaky glowy thing:

There are also Giant versions of monsters, that basically amount to bosses in the game. These monsters are always aggo, always extremely difficult to beat, and will usually kill you unless you run away. They're quite annoying when you're trying to level up:

Direct your attention to the top of this screenshot:

In Flyff, all the servers are named after various monsters in the game. I really wish they'd name one after this guy:

It's really worth your while to take a closer look at the game's NPCs. They can be quite interesting-looking:

Heather pointed this one out to me. It's Edward Scissorhands! O_O

This is supposed to be a water spell, but it reminds me of Sailor Mercury:

I got the coolest-looking staff ever:

Right now there's a special event quest going on that involves collecting pieces of an ancient airship. This is a shot of the special NPC who appears for the quest:

Randomly goofing around:

Another glowy thing! Landis and Kaori are both amazed.

Epic Wide shot!

End.
