Summary: "You're the only person I have left."
"I guess I'm just worried." Fiddling with the frays at the end of his jeans instead of the green grass around them, Hiroto couldn't meet his gaze.
It was difficult. It felt like life had taken him by the collar, pulled him close, then shoved him forward with such force, he couldn't help but hit the ground in a mess of limbs and broken dreams.
Dropping out of college because money was sparse. Selling his possessions just to line his stomach with food. Finally getting kicked out of his brother's apartment for not helping with rent. Hiroto was out of options.
Tora could see it written across his face in scrawls of tear tracks, blots of redness across his cheeks and nose from the cold.
"You're the only person I have left." Just a whisper.
Looking up between curtains of raven hair, Tora eyed the way the smaller man hunched over, back against the willow tree, knees pressed against his chest, hands twitching along the seams of his pants, nervousness pouring from every limb. The wind blew his blonde hair around his face, pushing the strands away from his almond eyes and Tora ached.
"Hiroto.." He murmured, licking his lips and immediately regretting it. Tora didn't have any chapstick and the dryness was accumulating there with speed.
"It's alright if you can't, I ju-just need..." Hiroto's voice faded with each word into the constraints of his throat.
The ground was soft and Tora was sure that there was no other place he needed to be, no other thing that demanded more of his time than this moment, than this plea of vulnerability because no matter how many times Hiroto said he was fine and that it was alright if Tora couldn't let him live with him, he knew that it just wasn't.
"Who said I can't?" Tora breathed, suddenly sitting next to the younger man. "I need someone to fill the emptiness."
Watery eyes met his own.
Lips trembled.
Hearts thudded.
The wind blew softer, sweeping them into a whirlwind of silence without speaking. Hiroto's body ceased to fidget.
"Am I the right size?" Barely a sound.
Wrapping an arm around Hiroto's shoulders, Tora tugged him close.
"Yes."
